Have i read this wrong or are you saying the 'downbeat' atmosphere is due to the type of football we are playing this season?

We score wonder goals and you see it as a problem?

Moore and Woodrow scored almost 40 goals between them. I'd say majority were in and around the box.

Without checking and searching for the stats, I would guess that our shots on and off target were one of the highest in the league: if that’s an issue for some, then I can happily live with that.

The football this season has been great to watch imo. It's been a breath of fresh air from we we became used to since Conor left the club. It's say it's the best season for football at oakwell since Bassett was here (although we were abit of a one man team that season) so I don't think that's to blame for the atmosphere.

If you stick £100 on the manager markets the odds drop massively

Meanwhile DS is on contract negotiations with us

Could be the beat £100 his agent has ever spent!

It's a pity it doesn't allow Stendel any leverage in contract negotiations. The plan will always come first. I can't see how Stendel can receive assurances. Assurances of what exactly?

That his team isn't sold from under him like Hecky dealt with under the previous regime. He will want to see key players out of contract in the next 12 months like Pinnock and Lindsay signed back up and to be supported strongly in the transfer market. If they sell Nice for 90 million he would hope to get a small slice of that to spend on making sure we are a comfortable mid table team. He's left his friends and family to move abroad and learn a new language and he's got us promoted.

He isn't going to sign a new long term contract before the players do I wouldn't have thought. If we have a player sale he will leave. I think him only having a year on his contract might be a good thing that goes in our favour as fans, as we will see through the actions of the board this summer how much they want Daniel to stick around long term to back up their words.

We aren’t getting any slice of £90m - it’s completely and utterly, not connected to BFC in any way.

The owners are business men, they will take their profit out of that transaction and move on. They have enough money between them to put **** loads into BFC already, and have already put on record saying they don’t intend to follow that path.

There’s lots of positive moves this year, players signing contracts, we’ve never done before.

We have a good squad already, but people seem to think we are going to spend another £10m on players this summer are mad as fooook.

We will sign a small number of players, but there won’t be wholesale changes or huge fees involved. Our strategy is clear.

I’d bet we’ve spent a fair wad already on players we already had.

People go to watch Barnsley V whoever, end of. They either come away happy, sad or indifferent.

If you class 'realism' as going along expecting the worst to happen, and then saying "I told you so" and "it's xxxxxs fault" then I would agree there are loads like that who watch football, but that's not realism, it's just never being happy with anything.

I agree, but say if Pinnock leaves for say £3-5 million, depending on deal (sell ons, etc), I'd expect that to be re-invested in replacements, as well as the extra £6 million or so for being back in the Championship going on increased wages / signings / loans. I think that is the sort of expectation. If we keep Pinnock, Lindsay, Moore on bigger wages then there will be less to spend as that will eat into that £6 million. There are all sorts of possible outcomes that may make DS happy with what he is working with. Will all be down to negotiations within our budget, without us "going crazy". Bahre's signing & the new deals already done are in that too & they all seem good business so far.

I agree with quite abit of this I don't think stendel will sign if pinnock,Lindsay, mcghehan and thiam all reject contracts and we end up flogging key players from last season this window.
On the other hand no way will we get any of the 90million pound sale on nice.
Yeah i felt for hecky when he had 3 players sold in January who all wanted to leave but cryne wasn't a billionaire he put his own money in to sign winnall and Conor and subsidised the accademy every year that bree was a product of. He was in a catch 22 sell or they leave for free. So cryne was in a lose lose situation he sold and got criticised if he had made them see out their contracts against their wishes they would leave for nowt and he would have got hammered for not getting these lads to sign up.

I'd be extremely surprised (though very happy) if we make it through the summer without losing one of Pinnock, Lindsay or Moore. I think we're going to get some hefty offers, especially for the first two. I'd imagine Stendel understands that. The key will be how effectively we replace.

Thing is though Lindsay and pinnock both have one year left. If they don't sign a new deal and a decent offer comes our way they will be gone the club has already said this and the money re invested in the squad. Some won't be happy but after this window their values start to decrease untill the can leave for nothing next summer. Will be interesting to see what happens.

Depends whether ‘the plan’ under PC is still the plan or will we adopt a different strategy. I don't see that bouncing along the bottom of the championship/top of league 1 is going to get a significant return on investment for our owners through player sales. If the money is to be re invested in the club as promised then they’re just treading water. It depends for me really on where the owners want to take the club. I’ll be Barnsley whatever happens.

I think that would change the dynamics a bit but not much. We’d sell him for 5m+ and reinvest half of it I’d reckon, based on what’s happened so far.

About Connor and Sammy if they would have been offered an extension on their contract when we were promoted .They weren't in a position to run their contract out.
In my opinion bit naive by the owners at that point.
