Capri. Vesuvius, Pompei and Herculanium (Herculanium is better if you're pushed for time.) A drive around the Amalfi coast is nice but can get busy. Positano is stunning.
    Naples is sh:t hole

I'd agree with all of that. Although apparently Capri has become unbearably packed with tourists in recent years.

I once borrowed one to tow my caravan, suspension a bit spongy but I'm told the newer shape is much better, usual Kia reliability is a plus aswell

I've been Dan. I was on a Ledger Holiday trip from our base near Rome.
We visited Pompei ( very moving), Monte Cassino and Rome of course.

One excursion took us to Sorrento. We stayed mainly round the main square
which I think is called Piazza Tasso and had a meal and some wine.

We didn't stay too long because the main focus of the day was a trip over to the
Isle of Capri which was good. You can get a water taxi over to Capri from
the harbour in Sorrento. Well worth a visit. Agree with Red Striker, Naples was disappointing
although we only stopped there briefly.

On a different visit we visited Milan which is far North. That reminded me a lot of Sheffield. You've got
a fashion area and its shops, but there are wide areas that look really run down and neglected.
Attachment might give you some ideas about Sorrento. Enjoy.

Circumvesuviana train cheap and convenient for tourist sites. Stayed in Castellamare di Stabia for a couple of weeks last year- try the cable car from the side of the station there for stunning views and some nice walks on the mountain ridge. Small bars and restaurants up there.
Food and drink expensive in Sorrento. Even more so in Capri. Some nice walks in Capri away from the central tourist crowds. Villa Lysis and Jovis. Nice walk to Marina Piccola, though I'd suggest the tourist bus back.

My grandad fought there and took me back when I was a kid. It is worth a visit, he laid a wreath at the German cemetery which even as a ten year old I found quite moving

Sorrento is beautiful there’s a bar on top of cliffs that looks out to Vesuvius, Pompeii is amazing too and the boat trip to Capri is worth doing although they drag you into lemon cello shops. Napoli is a hole

You can get the train to Pompeii and Herculaneum. It's dead easy and cheap compared to the tours. Loads of nice places to eat too, just use trip advisor can't go wrong

Pompeii is a definite..no beach at Sorrento but the floating cafe's at the harbour are good, did Amalfi coast but if ya able to, get off the bus and visit the little villages that line the cliffsides. Napoli is as sh*te as everyone sez….there was a coach from the local bus station up past Monte Casino to Rome, half the tourist trip price, we spent 8 hours in Rome then came back on train.
When we went they closed the precinct to traffic at night and the bars and cafe's come to life, luved it...enjoy

I'll second that. And if you like a walk, the Path of the Gods is well worth it, the views are sensational and the pasta at the end of it tastes even better! We did the walk from Bomerano (bus from Amalfi to this starting point) to Positano.

Some of the sea coves a few mile west of Sorrento. Walk of the Gods from Bomerano to Positano, with plenty of steps on the way down. There is a small local bus between Positano and the small village enroute above. Ravello. Amalfi town is disappointing. Capri is a tourist trap, but has to be done. The Gardens of Augustus there are a welcome distraction. The town of Heculanium is a right dump.

Forgot to add. If you're using the local state bus company on the amalfi coast be prepared for lightening strike which could leave you stranded. Taxis can ve expensive.

Pompeii does not disappoint, it is truly amazing. You get such a sense of how the town was when everything came to a sudden halt. Go for a walk up Vesuvius too.

The Amalfi Drive is stunning, and you can include a trip to Ravello at the same time, which is well worth a visit.

A trip to Capri is a bit mixed - Capri Town is so busy that you struggle to see it for all the tourists; however, what is worth doing is to get up to Anacapri and ride the open cable car to the top of the island, where you'll get some brilliant views.

Sorrento itself is great. There are some small private beaches, but you can access a tiny one at Marina Grande, where you'll find some decently priced restaurants overlooking the water and Vesuvius in the distance.

One final point, I watched our 2016 play-off final win in Sorrento after booking the holiday thinking we'd never be in such a match. I still managed to bump into four other Barnsley fans watching the game!
