Tend to agree with this. I think McGeehan improved massively throughout last season but I'm not convinced he'll be that effective in the championship. On the other hand if Dougall gets back to his best I think he could do a job partnering Mowatt next year.

What exactly is being hidden and why would it cause embarrassment?

Can't understand the mentality I like mcgeehan I think he has potential to be a good player in the championship. But maybe he doesn't think the same if he established himself in the championship his next move could be massive instead he wants to drop down a league.

Pinnock Woodrow Mowatt and Moore are my key players.

Odd that theres no mention of Davies amongst that lot.

    Hardly surprising though
1.we paid 1million for mcgeehan we would be daft to sell for same fee.
    2. We have turned down the 1st bid from our local rivals for our most valuable asset.

Don't get me wrong I'm glad we have I just hope we can persuade mcgeehan, pinnock or thiam to extend. Lindsay won't speak to the club I've heard so he will be off.

Just not convinced by him mate, definitely a grafter but in the championship you need to have something abit more. Its certainly not even a foregone conclusion that Mowatt will step up yet either!

Maybe not but he'll certainly put in the effort I'm sure, as would Mcgeehan.

    Players out = players in.

They don't really show any loyalty to the club so why do we care whether they leave or not?

Don't care who pulls on the red shirt, all I care about is that they put a good shift in.

I've just come to accept that this is now the Barnsley way.
All in this thread may be pure speculation but it shows exactly what it means to follow Barnsley. Year in year out it's the same both from the club's side and the fans'.
Get a player in cheap, sell him for the dreadful word "profit". I suppose it's how businesses are run.
We may not like it but, to coin a phrase, it's none of our business.

I can see Celtic being a big pull to Lyndsay but I wouldn't take less than 3million.
I can't see Moore or McGeehan being tempted to play for Sunderland.I know money talks but there seems to be a toxic feel on Wearside at the moment. If its Tom Eaves he would make a smashing 3rd striker behind Moore and Woodrow. If Leeds want Pinnock tell them 10 million not a penny less. Give Ethan the best deal we can and make him captain for the coming season. As for Davies he's been a great servant to us I'd like him to stay but I'm sure he leaves with all the best wishes from the supporters.

What would you do? For example Lindsay I have heard won't speak to the club about a new deal and wants to leave.
Cash in put the money back into the club?

Play him for 6 months against his wishes sell in January for peanuts because he has 6
    months left?
Let his contract run down against his wishes and leave for free next summer?

If Lindsay wants the move then let him go as long as the money is right. I'd rather players were upfront rather than pretending they want a new deal when they dont.

Its not the Barnsley way MR B its football in general.Playing for Celtic might not mean much to us but to a young Scottish player it must be a great honour. For me the club have done the right thing, offered him a new contract decided if hes not going to sign get as much money as possible for him and replace. The alternative is let him play out his contract and let him go for nothing. If I was the owner I know what I would do.

Reading all this just makes me chuckle, folk discussing it all like it's complicated and nuanced...

Whoever offers the most wages gets the player. That's it.

If it’s true about Lindsay wanting to leave, then I would sell provided we get the right money. That’s 3 million plus. Anything less, we may as well keep him and let his contract run down. No point flogging him for a small fee. Not many players will sulk and not play, they will want to impress and maybe leave in January.

Players come, players go. I have got used it it now, so don’t stress about it. What I would like though is a replacement in the building before we let anyone go, particularly as we get nearer the deadline. Easier said than done though I guess.
