Always disappointing when someone puts a shift in for around a 50 game season, gets promoted and then wants to sod off. Are we really that uncompetitive on contracts?
No I know it's not just us, it always just SEEMS to be us ! And of course you are right in what you say. It's such a shame that as soon as a player, any player at any club, gets the monk on about wanting to leave then the club is held to ransom and the player generally wins. I guess there may be players out there desperate to sign for Barnsley, getting the monk on with their current clubs about it. It's hard to imagine but it must be so.
If Sunderland are offering to quadruple, I’m presuming club haven’t given permission to speak, does that not make it an illegal approach?
Got no doubt in reality it happens, begs question what’s point in having the rule? Thanks for the info btw
Totally agree. Some of the stuff I hear about agents is unbelievable. Fortunately, we're one of the best behaved.
I'm as guilty as anybody getting too emotionally connected with individual players. But at the end of the day their wallets rule their heads. it could well be Mcgeehan is using Sunderland interested to bolster his own contract with Barnsley. Let's not forget we're not just dealing with the player, but also his agent. They have absolutely zero sentimentality about Barnsley football club. If this rumour is about Mcgeehan and Sunderland do we reatlly think the latter can pay 20 grand a week? That seems absolutely extraordinary.
If Sunderland want to pay McGeehan 20K a week then they are truly a club in trouble. And I like McGeehan
Absolutely no issue with the club if they offer decent new contracts and sell players in the summer who won’t sign. It’s the old days of selling players on the cheap in the January window and then bringing in replacement on loan that I don’t want to go back to
They don't have any parachute payments left from been relegated from Premiership so their wages etc will be less then last year.
This all ties in very nicely with what Hecky said. Wages have been increased. BUT - Lindsay, Pinnock, Thiam and Moore are still likely to leave the club. Fingers crossed that they don’t.
All well and good but Moore has two years left on his contract. The guy in question is likely to be Mcgeehan. Do keep up.
