Has it been confirmed they're also starting at -12 points? They'll have quite the task on their hands if they want to try and stay up.
Need more than a12 points deduction, have they been done for not fulfilling the fixture with Brentford last season ?
Supposedly a buyer has been found and has pledged 1 million quid to get the club back on its feet. Think they need more like 20 million, realistically, so that will be 'interesting'
Looks like he's off to Rangers. Isn't Ben Alnwick the keeper we had for a bit too? The only other name I recognise is Oztumer.
Hope they sink into oblivion. Never liked them ever since our battles with them in 97 promotion season. Hate how teams just keep getting away with spending way above their means while little old tarn have to stick to rules. Never seems right.
I think they are awaiting a hearing on that. There is no precedent for this in recent times, so penalty is yet to be decided. Likely to be more points deducted.
Didn't Middlesbrough do something similar against Blackburn back in their Premier league days? I can't remember any details or what the punishment was. I don't even know if this would be classed as a precedent because I think the circumstances were different.
They were indeed deducted points - three. It ended up relegating them. Had they played their youth team and lost 10-0, they'd have stayed up.
Hi IK311 I was on the line for that game and got a phone call on the Friday from Blackburn to advise the game was off due to the fact the Middlesbrough were unable to field a competitive squad on the Saturday despite the FA not sanctioning the postponement. They were deducted 3 points for failing to fulfil a fixture plus a financial fine. They eventually played the game the Tuesday before the final weekend of the season and drew nil - nil. They were relegated on Sunday, if memory serves me right they drew nil - nil at Leeds but the irony was that if they had turned out the youth team and lost 20 nil they would have not been docked three points and not been relegated! Karma or what?
