Very interesting piece by Leon Wobschall in the YP about Liam Lindsay and his partnership with Ethan Pinnock. It's rather confusing, because we have been repeatedly told he's refusing to talk about his future with the Club and it's likely that he will be leaving. The article positively infers, that he's looking forward to playing alongside Ethan in the Championship next season. Sincerely hope that it's true. Craig Sedgewick is featured in this weeks Chronicle, saying that Jacob Brown and Kenny Dougall will also both be fit and raring to go for the new campaign. If we can hold on to the players we've got, bring in a suitable replacement for Davies and add three or four more players of promise/quality, I would be optimistic about us at least retaining our place in the Championship, come May 2020. https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spo...unfinished-business-in-championship-1-9823805
Thing is he may not mind running his contract down and leaving next season but the club won't have that. If his contract isn't sorted this window he will be off same with ethan I'd imagine instead of getting to January and having 2 key players with 6 months left on their contracts we have been there before. I think Lindsay will leave I just hope we get good money for him and put it back into the squad.
We have had better - but only rarely. Not many have been as good as Lindsay. IMO - Lindsay and Pinnock were the rock that promotion was built on.
People who think jackson is better than lindsay? Wow, What you had for breakfast? Lindsay is a good center half had the odd mistake in him but imo he is a better footballer than Marc roberts was/is or will be. And we got 3.5 million for Roberts.
My granddaughter had a photo with Liam last Saturday in Lindos village and he told her he was looking forward to playing in the Championship. It might have just been words to please a young Barnsley fan but that's what he told her.
I wasn't there but my granddaughter just assumed he meant us.I hope so now or there'll be a disappointed young girl.
I agree we've had better, but for continuity and the lack of upheaval and defensive understanding, I'd like to see Pinnock and Lindsay continue in our defence next season.
Would be a massive plus if we could hang on to them. If we had to lose one I'd be happier with Lindsay going, as I think Pinnock has more potential & to have him on a longer contract would be a coup. It looks like we are in the market for centre halves, if the rumours are true, but losing Jackson means we need to bring one or two in anyway.
Lindsay is quality and will go on and have a good career at a bigger club higher up the league than us. Im not surprised if he looks elsewhere and keeps his options open as he isnt overwhelmed with support and admiration from all Barnsley fans.
One of the best players in our squad, easily Championship quality and would be a great signing if he could be persuaded to sign a new contract. Along with his mate Ethan Pinnock, what an outstanding pairing they make. Our goals against record last season, albeit in League One, confirms this.
Lindsay is a good solid defender. He is far from the finished article but he is 23 and will continue to improve. If he improves his decision making he has the attributes to be a top level defender. His style also compliments Pinnock - he attacks the ball and Pinnock sweeps up behind. I think we would struggle to duplicate their relationship if he did go.
