So you are saying we should be matching whatever Stoke are willing to pay Lindsay?

Do you not reckon this was all said on the St Mirren boards teams knicking our best players.

Yes - if Hamilton had signed him.

The worry is just like previous ownership we are going to rely on player sales to balance the books which weakens our team and the fans suffer.

I really hope the board are working hard at improving revenue streams to make us less needy at accepting bids for key players.

I don’t think that is the case.
I don’t think players are sold to balance the books.
I just think they are sold as part of the strategy.
They get to a certain age or stage of their contract.
    NEXT !!!
But this is unsettling for the team and players.

Players absolutely have to be sold to balance the books. It's a lot more expensive than you realise to run a football club.

No. The club are very ambitious and they're doing it in such a manner that we will never end up a basket case like Wednesday will become.

Simple. Panic over, get to bed.

No need to panic at all in my view. We are still in the transfer window and are conducting business both incoming and outgoing. By the time the season starts we will have most of the squad tied down to long term contracts I suspect and we still may have a few guys coming in who actually strengthen us. Even then, there is the January window... Early days. No need to panic at all.

Doesn't really matter which Club it is, if a player in the final year of their contract won't sign a new
one, there's nothing the Club can do about it. We haven't got any proof of course, but it was claimed
that Conor was offered a new deal and Scowen wanted to move down South to be nearer his family.

Marley Watkins handed a transfer in during the January and subsequently left for Norwich at the end
of the season. Like others before him, Yiadom made it quite clear that he wanted away, so it didn't come
as a surprise to many, when he did. I would think, purely for financial reasons, Mawson, Roberts and Bree
were all sold and there's no doubt that weakened us. The sale of players is a fact of life in football and down
the years whilst being disappointing over the past thirty odd years supporting the Reds, something I have
    sadly come to expect.

Another bit of cheery news. Lindsay is banned for the first game of the season. He He.

    Don’t tell Stoke.

Their fans haven't cottoned onto that yet. They're not exactly jumping for joy at news of his arrival because they feel the same as we do over losing Butland.

If it's true and I'll wait for the club announcement, we are desperately short of centre backs after Jackson has also gone. If he doesn't want to stay I've got no argument with his going, but I hope we have some signings in the pipeline.

    I like Lindsay

But he’s replaceable for 3m and we have to sell with less than 12 months left on contract

    Pinnock is far superior

Very true. Though Pinnock only has a year left too.

If he won’t sign, i’m guessing he’ll go too.

We can’t let too many go for free, so it has to be that way.

Do you not think it’s more down to the player and his agent and not the club? For all we know, the club will be trying it’s upmost to keep its assets but will not be held to ransom

If you are a player who is ambitious and has no affinity to the club, you would jump ship at the idea of promotion to the premier league and on a better salary.

I’m pretty sure at the moment in time, an Aston Villa or a Leeds is a more attractive proposition than our club

16th place Stoke is not a ticket to the premier league by any stretch of the imagination.

I get that but 130 years suggests the support is quite patient.

Not really no. Hes pushing the age limit at which the club wants players to be at and hes probably at his highest value at this time. The club will have offered him a better deal, probably a year extension but not a deal that's impossible to turn down. Why? Because the club WANT to sell these players to buy a younger and better prospect player.

Simple really, club is just replenishing its stock.
