https://www.swindontownfc.co.uk/news/2019/june/zeki-fryers-joins-swindon-town/ Good luck to him and Wellens with his hope that he can play week in week out. Too good for that level but injuries hamper him. If he can stay fit he will be one of the best left backs in the league, if not in PFA team of the year.
Good move for the lad. When we've completed our signings for the forthcoming season, he would probably struggle to get a game. Paul Conway pledged that the income for being promoted would be invested in the squad. Deducting the estimated fee for Thomas, that should leave us circa £5.3 million yet to spend, plus we will have Zeki Fryers salary to bring a new player in. I honestly believe the Board will get it right. Given their collective ambition, surely little purpose would be served in not trying to retain our place in the Championship.?
One of the better full backs going forward but caught out of position too much, although his pace was always a factor, hope he does well. Quite a lump being saved on wages at present, this + LIndsey + Jackson etc...also transfer cash so the £5.3 million Donny Red rightly quoted is probably a healthy bit more....hope so and hope it goes toward the squad...
I like the lad and wish him well, good post from Donny sums it up well, lets see what the rest of the summer brings COYR
Good point Skinner. I'd not included Lindsay or Jacksons wages. Looks even more promising. Should be able to bolster the squad with the money now at our disposal, that is of course if James C gets his selection process right.
I'm not sure what day that is. He strikes me as a player that doesn't know what he wants and his injuries aren't necessarily physical. Not sad he is gone.
Absolutely contributed nothing during his stay with us . Typical nomadic footballer picking up a wage wherever he can . You need more than talent to be a successful footballer.
To put it in perspective, the salaries the club was offering for highly skilled physio's etc recently, in comparison with third division footballers with a dodgy history earning 150k a year is a joke.
Decent player when fit. Sadly that didn't happen a lot. Wish the lad well. Young players with injuries like this usually don't do well, so we are right letting him go. Hopefully he can make a career at that level.
Probably not championship standard and unlikely to develop to a level where he will be so seems a good move for him. Good luck to him.
No reason not to wish him well. He kept getting injured and it didn't work. That's football. Good luck.
The best he gave last season was coming on away at Donny when Wilks was ripping young Williams a new one when our squad was injury and suspension striken. I can't think of much else, stendel obviously didn't rate him. Got far too much game time the season before. Good luck to him though.
