Dont want to lose Lindsay but he is not a bigger loss than Pinnock. We need to keep Pinnock more than any other player...in my opinion.

I agree - he’s our best player. We should look to retain him and offer to pay him as much as we can within the right structure.

But with the caveat that I don’t think we ‘need’ to keep him. If someone stumps up £5 or £6million plus, and he doesn’t want to sign a new deal, he’ll go. As much as we might not like this, that’s the right thing. It’d be more painful to lose him for nowt in a year.

We won’t likely replace him with somebody as good - but it wouldn’t necessarily mean we’re doomed.

I am hoping the twitter pen will be out for him in the next few days though.

Even Chelsea had that problem with Hazard, it happens at all levels and not just at Barnsley

He's worth a lot more than that if you look at the market.

If we lose both our centre halfs and first choice keeper in the same transfer window, that would be very worrying. That's the level of rebuilding we don't want to be doing in one go. We've been in this situation before and it didn't work out at all. If we can announce a new long term Pinnock contract that would take away some fears.

That would be the best signing of the season! I would sooner keep him for this season and sell for nothing than 4/5m now!

I think we’re all going to be disappointed soon.

You might take that view but I doubt the board will - If someone offers us 4 million for him and he hasnt signed a contract extension I cant see us keeping him - even if he commits for another couple of years we would still sell for the right offer.
It would be unfortunate though if we lost all 3 centre halves in one go and I hope we are doing all we can to persuade Pinnock to stay a bit longer

Best solution is effectively a one year extension as per McGeehan. Losing all the central defenders this close season is a non starter from my point of view. Even if it means Pinnock starts and is sold in Jan for a reduced fee, we need some continuity in this position.

All things being equal he’s a £10million player.

Only twelve months left on his contract though and buying clubs will know we want/need to sell if he doesn’t sign a new deal. I don’t think we’d take less than £5mil but I don’t think it would take double that to buy him

    The club wouldn’t though.

I partly agree, but if his head is turned by an expensive bid and £20k a week wage he will be disgruntled with the club and it will affect his on field performance.

It’s all relative. If they were the same age & the fee been offered’s the same then you’d say keep Pinnock based on last season but if any fees you receive are been used to strengthen the squad & you’re saying £6m for Pinnock or £2m for Lindsay who’s a couple of years younger then I’m selling Pinnock every time.

Either way I’ve already resigned myself to losing them both. I don’t think we can offer them anywhere the kind of wages they can get elsewhere & the boards shown they’re willing to sell with Potts & Bradshaw

Is this ITK? Losing one not too bad but losing both would be unforgivable and make me seriously question next seasons motives.
Are we just going to start fresh, blood in young players getting relegated, get promoted next season and sell them all over again?

Agree this is the issue - we need to maintain Championships status and that means making hard choices, including keeping hold of Pinnock at least until we have replacements in, settled and capable of consistent performances.

This is what drives me mad about BFC. I’ve no problem with the model but successful teams that follow it buy those cheap gems, get them to learn from the outgoing players for a while BEFORE SELLING. Bfc decide every year to start over again with a L2 squad capable of improving meaning we have periods of failure. If properly managed our model could be seamless but if Pinnock, Lindsay and Davies go it suggests we’ll be starting next season getting some Tonkings as players that will be good in a couple of years learn their trade.

Can't always be seamless. The market is fluid and it will always be so as long as people have ambitions.

It can be in every way better than 'develop player, sell, start again', though.

Again, none of this has happened but will be extremely frustrating if it does.
