Probably a good time to play them. Often freshly relegated sides from the Prem take a while to get going
That's not a bad opening month in all fairness. Good chance to get some early points on the board with luton and Charlton at home amongst them.
Tuesday night fixtures could've been worse too, I was expecting Fulham Qpr and Brentford all away on Tuesdays.
You'd expect Woodrow to be itching to get off to a good start that little bit more now with us hosting Fulham.
No run of games for a club of our size will ever be easy at Championship level but them 6 fixtures in August are about as winnable as it gets. 2 clubs in disarray in Wednesday & Fulham & 4 clubs that I don’t think anyone expects to be challenging anywhere near the top 6. Hopefully we’ll not lose many players, keep some momentum & have a good start to the season
We'll know quite a bit about our chances in the championship come the end of August with those fixtures.
I agree with Wednesday but I think Fulham is a tough one have alot of quality in there squad. Like you say though hopefully they get off to a poor start.
We started the 1970/71 season at home to Fulham and lost 1-0. However, we also started the 1983/84 season at home to them, too. That game resulted in a 3-0 win, with David Wilkes 2 and Stuart Gray (on his debut) getting our goals. Also, Larry May was introduced to the fans before kick off as our new club record signing, £110,000 from Leicester City. Dull and extremely tedious news.
Hopefully Spurs will finally sign Sessegnon and the likely sale of top striker Aleksander Mitrovic and other big earners, could mean it's exactly the right time to be playing Fulham. https://www.shieldsgazette.com/spor...rbian-international-midfielder-is-eyed-169279
That Brentford away will be a strange one. They say goodbye to their ground so it could either be a sombre affair or a party atmosphere.
Not the kindest run of festive fixtures for us is it? On a lads holiday in September with 2x L**ds mates and a Bradford City fan. Could be 3 days of nobody talking to each other.
Because they were relegated German international forward Andre Schurrle has not taken up the option of a second year loan at Fulham and has returned to his parent Club Borussia Dortmund.
