And what if folk had decided to take the negative approach because they had never heard of him? What that have warranted a thread to the contrary?
Is it just me or does anyone else think that Conan just needs a blow job with a finger up his harris?
I start every new season feeling positive regardless of any situation. The day I don't I will probably be the day I should start to think 'whats the fvcking point'
Well I was actually thinking about getting the garden done this morning but it wouldn’t be right if we all had the same thoughts
For me I've started to just think the majority of players we bring in will go on to be good players for us. Based purely on the fact that we seem to have done really well with recruitment over the last few years.
I automatically assume that every new signing will be absolutely awful. I get ahead of the game and boo them when they are announced on their debut. If I do happen to be proved wrong and they play well I assume they will be sold to one of the Sheffield clubs on the last day of the transfer window so I again I preempt this by buying a shirt with their name on the back and burning it whilst chanting Judas. All this saves time and unnecessary disappointment
Obviously we're all entitled to think as we wish, positive or negative, but many people seem to have an irrational fear or distrust of the unknown, so they tend to feel negative about it. I'm the exact opposite. If something is unknown, I automatically think it will be really good. This principle applies to people, food, places, music, central defenders, cars, goalkeepers, pubs, beer, wingers and in fact most things in life. As an example, guess what I'd pick from the following menu: - Steak pie and chips Grilled salmon and new potatoes Lamb rogan josh with pilau rice Boiled aardvark with roast gravel cakes and braised birch branches Everything unknown is going to be really good, until/unless it turns out not to be.
Well if I didn’t have first hand experience, as in a number of earlier examples, I’d take the opinion of a trusted expert who has a good selection record. Ok, he may have made a few mistakes in the past but you have to fail a few times before you succeed. If it still leaves a bad taste after that the d move on to the next pump.
