Plenty. Sick of certain posters with their underhanded and unfounded criticism of the club. We have come a long way in a short space of time and are financially sound and bringing in young talented players. I had my doubts initially about the takeover but they are winning me over. The club has a plan and a strategy and the team an identity and style. Everyone has a right to an honest opinion but I feel good for our future.
There's not many teams in or around us where I think I wish I were in their position . Personally I don't see huge amounts of money been spent in the championship this year anyway , everyone's skint . Relative to previous years we are as strong as we ve been in the last 15 years or so .
I think us the fans will be pleasantly surprised this coming season, and we'll certainly shock a few. No way we'll be in a relegation battle
I agree. I like the calibre of the young hungry players we've brought in and are being linked with. I think anyone that does leave might be dropping a huge bo llock.
Correct, especially early on when teams aren't giving us any respect and simply expect to beat "teams like Barnsley".
We will play fast attractive football that is a joy to watch. We will sign some great and not so great players. We have a manager that seems to connect fans and club. We will (hopefully) get to see another magnificent Pinnock season. We will have the unmitigated joy of seeing jacob Brown develop and adjust. We will win some games and lose some some games. Life will ebb and flow. Success or failure we I’ll stick together. Onwards and upwards.
I'm all excited like waiting for Christmas! I enjoyed league 1 but the Championship is our home and I want us to show everyone it's where we belong.
We certainly do appear to be signing some promising young players JT. The thing that bugs me, is that hopefully with more still yet to come, the bookies have us along with Charlton as one of the favourites to go down. I was reading in today's paper, that due to financial constraints, even though he wanted to keep Stewart Downing, Middlesbroughs new boss Woodgate couldn't afford his wages and so he's had to let him go to Blackburn. He's not optimistic of being allowed to sign many high profile players and is therefore going to have to include some of his Academy players in his matchday squad. If that proves to be true, unless he can bring some more experience in, depending on how good his young players are and they can avoid injuries or suspensions, they could also struggle.
We've had some rough times as Barnsley fans over the years. It's difficult to assess things in the close season, as it's results dependent, but all the signs are that we're going to enjoy next season. I've tried hard to find some negatives, but can't, so I'm looking forward to it.
If you are desperate to find negatives of course it’s possible to find some even if the owners decided to do a Man City and started signing top international players you could find Things to be negative about Personally at this stage I think we have far more to he positive about. We’ve just been automatically promoted playing a style of football I love to watch. I’m happy with the signings we have made so far and the club seems to be working to fix the problems of players leaving without us being able to control it I’d be happier if Pinnock and Moore signed new deals but we already got Mowatt Woodrow Brown to extend and look to be ditching the approach of only offering short contracts I’m excited for the new season. Will start to worry if we are in the bottom 4 after 10 games but I am quite optimistic we won’t be
I'm really looking forward to the new season. But that's no surprise as I always do. It's simply because I love watching Barnsley. If I didn't, then I wouldn't have continued to do so for over fifty years. For the majority of that time, we've ended the season in the same division we started it in. There's been a few relegations, more than balanced out with wonderful promotions. Even during the campaigns resulting in mid table finishes, there's still the enjoyment of watching talented players and/or emerging young lads just embarking on their league careers. The 2018/19 league season was one of the best in the club's history. Within a matter of weeks, we've got some of the players to extend their contracts and brought in new players, too. There's rumours aplenty suggesting more are on their way, even if two or three may be leaving. I accept that being labelled a Happy Clapper somewhat dilutes the veracity of my opinions, but I don't care. Funnily enough, I don't recall being called a happy clapper when posting my regular tirades against Simon Davey!.
Oooh, Simon Davey. Now him I could not abide. His subsequent shenanigans at other clubs confirmed what a pillock he was. As for looking forward to the new season, count me in. I like the look of Anderson. I may be disappointed when he starts playing but for now I'm enjoying the thought that he'll play every match to the same standard as his highlights video Whitey put together. Just booked four nights in Harrogate at the end of October so I can show my heathen, bogtrotter other half the delights of Yorkshire and then see us play Bristol City on the Saturday. Can't wait.
In the past, when I was a teenager, I thought knew everything when it came to the abilities of players & managers (and all things football related, for that matter). Then, when I matured, it became blatantly obvious to me that I actually knew bugger all. These days, I know even less, but at least there's others who are far more knowledgeable than I who are willing to educate me. I've no idea whether these new signings will be any good. But I'm willing to wait until I see them in action for Barnsley before I rush to pass judgement. It's the same with the younger members of our squad. I haven't the foggiest idea whether they have the talent and drive to be a success with us. But I'm willing to wait and see if they can progress before I rush to write them off as failures. Recent history with regards to Jacob Brown and going further back to Joe Joyce & Ian Banks ought to highlight the sheer folly of following that particular path. On a personal note, I really hope you and your family have a great time on your upcoming visit.
