The directors (present and current) stated that we would spend within our means!
    But even by my reckoning...
£5m outlay, with circa £2.5m a year wages.. over 2 years would be £10m... So all that outlay and we'd have still only made £1m!
Then also upset every player here, and consequently would have had to increase EVERY other wage, or at the very least every new player into the club would have wanted what Ollie would have been on..

So you can add, oh I dunno, £2m (ballpark figure) onto the yearly wage budget.

I work that out as making a loss!
I'm really happy that your not in any way involved in the running of BFC.

Careful. Wishing ex-players well/keeping tabs on them before they retire can get you dogs abuse from our fans.

Even if he would consider dropping to league one, who in right mind after seeing the fiasco of Morais, club in turmoil being relegated, no manager, then an unknown manager would have signed for us

I would say that’s a much more valid point.
Fanciful Guesstimates abound on here regarding his fee and wages.

You were the first person on this thread to talk about fees and his future worth.

Is it OK for you to pluck figures out of thin air but no one else?

At the time with us - I saw a valuation of £5M.
Media reports Sheff United now to pay £11M.

Fanciful guesstimates? Can you supply us with "exact" figures then?
And a breakdown of the potential profits the club would have made?
I'm sure the board would love to know how to conduct future transfer negotiations.

If Barnsley is to be successful in the Championship then at some point we will need a striker like McBurnie.
IMO - best striker in the Championship.
    And we had him here.

Nothing factual there. Just newspaper talk, plus, had he dropped down into league one with us and scored for fun we still wouldn't be selling him for that kind of money.

7th top scorer in championship last season. Very good player I'll grant you, but I think we have a gem in Woodrow, and we got him for peanuts in comparison to the quoted figures.

One touch Woody might give some of the other top strikers a run this season. Top player.

No matter how many times people tell you this, its either a point you simply cant understand or choose to ignore for the benefit of your fishing expeditions.

The directors combined wealth is NOT Barnsley football clubs money

I'm going to predict in 20/21
That Woodrow will sell for £4.637m...
It's reyt easy this making numbers up.
I'll then repost this in a years time and say "I said he'd sell for £6.987m" but he'll be worth £20m once we've sold him to a premier League side!

Could I just explain summert here.
When you say - ‘no matter how many times people TELL you’ - do you realise when you say that you are talking about posters on here - that is to say 90% of the people that have only a few brain cells to share between them - who can watch a game of football and forget what they had just seen before they get home.

So no - I don’t listen to most of the people on here.
    I have my own views.
I listen to those I respect.
I would listen to genuine comments from the club.
    And that’s it.

The club have openly stated on numerous occasions that they will not spend beyond their means!
They have also stated that they will not be spending money on "marquee" players, but will be using data to purchase the best value players (moneyball system)
They will invest the money made from player sales back into the team.

So, I think those statements mean that they will not have forked out your reported £5m for ollie.

So people who don't agree with you, lets say roughly 90%, are thick FOOKERS who share a handful of brain cells ?
Based on this response I would say its not the 90% you reference that are lacking in the brain cell department

I think the other perspective on this is that having being relegated from the Premier League that season, Swansea will see him as a prize asset in two ways. Primarily as crucial to them if they are to get promoted back to the Premier League with his goal output. But secondary to that, he will also be a fall back for them financially should they fail to be promoted again (or certainly by the time their parachute payments finish). And there'll be financial heavyweights courting him. Swansea's relegation killed off any other clubs hope of signing him last season as they'd have been crazy to let him go unless it was silly money talking, in my opinion obviously.

Tsk, you go for a day out at the cricket and come home to find someone's left the asylum gates open again.

Maybe we should all just use your technique of just not bothering to go to games in the first place?
