WoW... totally fabulous... Smiith has porked and bloated a bit.... but OMG he is totally awesome and so totally still has it.... FANTASTIC
Really I was thinking the opposite. It might be controversial with some older members but it's 2019 not 1986. They might still be decent performers but is it relevant or entertaining to most of the audience at Glastonbury? Shoot me down if you disagree but the audience sound less than inspired to me.
obviously not a music fan. Maybe you should stick to No Direction and Little Shits. Not many of the the acts from the 200's will last any where near this band.
I quite enjoy them in some ways but have always thought they were overrated, very simple song structures, style/mood/image over substance. I swim against the tide on this one, though.
Wtf I'm 59 not 16. But live in the present not the past. I did say they performed well but you must have missed that. Just never been a Cure fan. There are many other bands I would have chosen to close an iconic festival in 2019 than 80s band like the Cure. But I bow to your greater musical knowledge and will go back to listening to No Erection.
Incredible! Saw them last year in Hyde Park. Absolutely still got it! And Glasto is for everyone, and made up of 200,000 people. The 'audience' can't be generalised (in reply to the other poster). But The Cure hold their own. Hit after hit
I agree. I never really rated them even back in 80s when they were at their peak. They did some ok stuff but having said that I must admit that even the mediocrity they released is better than some of the utter cr@p that passes for music these days. I am an out of touch grumpy sod though.
So am I. There is some great music out there though. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episo...y-kurt-vile-the-violators-live-at-glastonbury
True JP. I do quite like The Courteeners. And some of The Killers and Noah and the Whale stuff is pretty good but not sure if they're classed as current. As I say I am tragically out of touch these days.
I thought they were excellent. Pleased to note the dirty Leeds fan seemed had to have gone to bed. Saw them at the Lyceum in Sheffield on the 17 seconds tour in I reckon 80/81 summat like that. Time flies eh...
Sounded great to me, having Reeves Gabrels on guitar seems to have freshened them up. Seen them 3 times since 2012 & they've been great each time.
Boring, depressing, not a fan and certainly wouldn't pay to watch... Or Kylie if we on about old as beens..
I quite like them and do have a few of their tracks on my playlist. I thought they started a little shakily but once they got going they were excellent. Yes “Fat Bob” has put on a bit more timber but he turned 60 this year, so can be excused somewhat. You sometimes forget how many hits they had and I think Mark Radcliffe nailed it at the end saying just that. Iconic band who obviously have still got it!
The Cure have created another l'Orange for the Anniversary 1978-2018, its in cinemas all over uk and Europe on the 11th July, a one off showing. Visit the Cure website if you're interested, like.
