Who if we concede a goal in the first game going into meltdown, blaming the sale of Pinnock and Lindsay who both wanted to leave..

After winning promotion, mainly through our attacking qualities rather than defensive, some people are being so overly negative.

Why? Keep saying it but we were promoted with the same philosophy as we are still keeping at the club.

From what I'm seeing the quality of players being brought in on 4 or 5 year deals is a massive improvement on the last few years, it is exciting to think how these players might develop.

Call me a happy Clapper, which I'm not but I have a really really good feeling about next season and the new faces we are bringing in combined with the core of players committed to the club is developing well. Friend of mine reckons we will be this years surprise package in the champ to do well.. Just exactly the same feeling I had back when Wilson brought that squad in and the new faces arrived... It is just a feeling and can't explain why but I'd rather have that feeling than spit my dummy out, have paddy, sell my season ticket, slate the club..

Nope none of that, come on you reds!!!

    Good po
Good post, but the jury is out till we bring in a few. I'm optimistic at the moment that we'll spend wisely & write better contracts.

Again you seem to put that down to purely the defenders who have left the club. Some of the league 1 teams were woeful in an attacking sense, my labrador could have taken the ball off their front men. Add to that the defensive efforts of a team game.. Lindsay will defo be found out for pace and Pinnock IMO about right level at championship but will not be a world beater...

Our defensive record was mainly down to most of the time the ball being in the opponents half as per Stendels philosophy.. If anything our defenders should have weighed in with a few more goals.

I know it’s been said umpteen times, but it’s not the sale that’s the issue, it’s the paltry fee received. If the players had release clauses (not seen any confirmation, so happy to be corrected) then fair enough. If not, we have been done good and proper.

I guess you either agree or disagree, neither view will be changed by debating it to death!

Let’s hope the new lads kick on and become new heroes. Until January at least ha ha.

But we are writing better contracts.. look at Thomas, Anderson and Collins..

Ps.. People slating us for it but look at Pinnocks contract at Brentford.. yep 3 yr deal, which to be fair is pretty common.. just the fact that we have started offering longer deals is very promising.

I'm with you MDG. Only hope your friend is proved to be correct. It's the sad side
of football when any popular key player leaves for pastures new. So much for
Ethan saying in the YP that he was settled and looking forward to playing in the
    Championship.

As we know, it happens across all divisions every single season and no matter how
disappointing it is, we the fans have to accept it and hopefully, get behind the boys who
run out in that Red shirt when we play Fulham in our opening fixture.

I understand people think we should have asked for more but when a player has his head turned presumably by their agents doing their jobs well... Where were all these other clubs wanting Pinnock and offering more money? We got what people were willing to play for a 26 year old centre half with only 12 month left on his contract. Rather sell now than have to look around in January after he is sold for 1 million because only 6 months left on his contract..

The thread title says it all MDG...if ya dunt like summat the club does and say so yr a doom merchant..well as much as yr not a happy clapper i'm not a doomsayer...bt surely statin yr not happy to see the guy rated as our best player leave is just saying the obvious..nobody wants us to win and do well more than me but its a team game and 3 of our regular team have gone and uncertainty hovers ova others...so its hard not to be concerned that we kick off wi an unknown squad.......bt we all genuinely hope we storm it....

Mowatt already has, would hand him the captains armband as well this season.

Would like to see one more with a good season in the champ already on record, but that said nothing more dangerous to opposition teams than an unknown quantity who performs well..

Think with all the contracts expiring we may well see one experienced head next couple of days plus sounded like Stendel wanted someone like that. Would like a defensive midfielder who fits that bill.

Reckon pen will be out tomoz or Thursday at latest.

I know players look after themselves, but Brentford! £3 million fee is frankly pathetic - remember Luton have sold their RB for £8 million whilst we get £5-5.5 mill for the best 2 CBS in L1! The 3 of them can get stuffed!

Says who? And it doesn’t mean you have to let them leave when they are under contract. It’s just piss poor dealing, pure and simple. All very well banking 3 million, but it risks the 6 million we get in the champ, plus whether you agree or not, it’s naffed off a large chunk of the fan base.

Might all turn out fine, who knows but not impressed by the “communication” from the club so far. Not good enough for me.

Says pinnock when he does not sign the contract extension. Agent says I can get you more money elsewhere or wait till end of season and I will get you a massive signing on fee as well.

All players want to leave. None want to be here. It’s just a job with us if they get offered or think they could be offered a better job they would be off.
