A couple of Coventry fans have mentioned that he said this last night at a Q&A. They haven't decided whether they will accept the bid or not.
I think theres a player there defo, Coventry fans seem to think they didnt play to his strengths. Can only see him as a third, substitute striker, whoever we bring in. Eaves would be a more logical purchase for me, but hes a bit too old maybe.
I think Eaves is on the radar. Twillo has been reliable as a source and he said we were linked with a player from Gillingham about a month since.
I’d see Chaplin as more of a wide man than an out and out striker, I genuinely wouldn’t mind this own happening. Chaplin, Brown, Thomas and mama. This would complete the wide options? Happy with the versatility in those options too, they could all competently fill in as cover for the forward men where needed.
Person who commented on this said it was not a typical Barnsley signing(spreadsheet), but a player available who wanted to come here
I wonder if the Opta-stats are right for Conor??? The data seems to suggest that he has scored 30 goals from 53 games in all competitions, but I cannot make that fit with his season-by-season record. He has made a lot of appearances as substitute, which may skew the figures to 80 appearances, but I still can't see where the 30 goals come from. Will the day come when someone starts 'doing a wiki' and manipulating a player's data to enhance their value in the transfer market? I am NOT saying that's what has happened with Conor, but the data I can find doesn't seem to match what he is recorded as having done season-by-season. Can anyone check and see where the clerical error has occurred? Unless I am missing something. He is a good 'fox-in-the-box' player, but didn't greatly impress at Coventry City once his move had gone through. Something doesn't add up here.
Transfermrkt is correct. https://www.transfermarkt.com/conor-chaplin/leistungsdaten/spieler/349503 Doesn't really play out wide from what I can tell, perhaps more of a backup to Bahre?
