Paul Conways basically was a Banker who made a lot of money in Chinese emerging markets who branched out into specialising in turning round failing companies and reselling at large profits. Interesting comments from a news article released at point of buying Nice below: building a business “ecosystem” that links games, media, and e-commerce businesses, China expects Sports industry to grow from 3.4 billion to 301 billion by 2025 (America in comparison is currently 63.8 billion) per annum. No wonder Lee cited “huge opportunities,” adding that he was attracted to OGC Nice by the team’s ability to train young players. These young players eventually can be introduced to soccer fields in China, where they can help promote an emerging industry for youth soccer coaching, he said. Schloss sees business opportunities in areas such as game organizing, player agencies, and soccer education. “Soccer clubs are good investment targets, especially when they are combined with the Chinese market,” he said
Yes, interestingly the holding company for BFC is also registered at Hing Kong instead of UK, meaning info is very difficult to get
In comparison, this is a company I was involved with until recently https://www.mobeus.co.uk/, they invested £2 million and exited with £12. These are a UK based version, so are a little bit more transparent as a result
The still featuring our team on the New Capital site was taken in May 2016, a brief three years ago when we beat Millwall at Wembley. Just shows how transient life and football can be. Not one single player from that great afternoon is still at the Club, our former owner is sadly deceased and our Coach that day, is now the Manager of Hibernian FC.
Yeah, difference is Mobeus want the general public to know they exist as almost anyone with an existing small to medium business can approach them for investment whereas others would never be interested as returns are too small.
to cut to the quick.... we are an investment opportunity.......a serious one if we get to the prem ..with the chance to have some fun along the way.....and prestige.
With investors riches from club potentially in global markets of China and India marketing television rights. In UK SKY basically Leeds obsessed so only real chance of us in when we play the mighty Weeds!!
Maybe they want another rags to riches movie.... who knows, but one thing that is for sure whatever their motive... they want the club to grow and prosper!
https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.c...e-ogc-nice-but-chien-lee-is-refusing-to-sell/ Already potentially tripling their money at OGC Nice. https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/9215068/billionaire-ratcliffe-90m-offer-accepted/ Apologise for the Scum link.
The real money’s not from the club being seen, it’s their Media company being involved in the TV rights.
Of course you're right about many of our new signings being unproven at Championship level. But if you think the club just 'sticks a pin in a spreadsheet' when it comes to new additions then you're deluded. I'm pretty impressed with how recent signing policy and player development has worked out and where it's got us. Always a risk but I'm happy we're using a bit of 'science' to recruit. The key last season was the teamwork, style of play, mindset and energy put on the pitch...and it will be the same this season - the sum has to be greater than the parts.
They are though. Where people are wrong is assuming that's a bad thing, or that they're going to fleece the club for pocket change (a couple million here and there). They're far smarter than that.
