Is that Daniel gets us to a healthy mid-table position by the end of this season, then some money-bags "bigger club" in the Championship gets the idea that "if he can do that on peanuts just think what he could do if we give him money to spend", offers him a big wedge of cash and he's gone!
It doesn’t seem as though he’s on peanuts though? If we do well he should undoubtedly be rewarded with a lucrative new contract, and our signings should match where we sit in the league, but I honestly think we’re a far more exciting proposition than we were 2-3 years ago.
My big hope is that Daniel gets us to a healthy mid-table position by the end of this season, then our money-bags owners get the idea that "if he can do that on peanuts just think what he could do if we give him money to spend", offers him a big wedge of cash and then he stays and takes us up next season!
No point worrying about it, we sell anything. With just one year left on his contract and players he openly said he wanted to keep departing, I just can't see him being with us next season.
No. I hope that a) We do well and Chien & Conway do as Mansfield Red says and give him the money he needs b) He sees us as a "work in progress", is happy with what he gets here and stays c) Other clubs continue to see him as "unproven at this level" and pass him over. Basically, I don't want him to go anywhere anytime soon. He is our biggest asset atmo!
If he does well in the championship they could offer him shares in the club. Part ownership was definitely part of the moneyball scenario. The yanks love share option loyalty bonuses.
Can't keep worrying about what will happen if we do well. Just hope we do well and enjoy it if it happens. Last season we all knew the prize for automatic promotion was to be a harder ride in the championship. I wouldn't get to excited about us ripping the league up this season. If it happens, great, but the players we have signed are mostly unproven at this level. We've added potential and numbers to a young squad and good manager with a firm plan. It'll still be tough.
Getting relegated is my big worry. Being healthy mid-table does not worry me at all - in fact I am putting my headphones and my best Kevin Keegan voice on, looking mean and curly, and shouting that I'd LUV IT if at the end we were mid table and healthy.
Stendel will leave, given our track record probably in the next 18 months. Much rather he leaves because we have done well than because we haven't.
My view is if he does well a bigger club or a club with more money will take him. If he does ok he’ll stay. If he does poor he’ll get sacked. The only way he’ll stay is if he just does ok which is probably about 15th - 21st or if he somehow pulls off a miracle & gets us promoted as then we can afford to keep him. If we finish top half but don’t go up I’m certain he’ll leave.
lets see how things go first - he had a good first season with a squad of players who with some good additions were definitely amonst the best in the league. This season it will be harder, much better opposition and half the team at least are unknown at this level of English football. I am more worried that things wont go so well this time than I am that things will go so well we risk having Daniel stolen from us - as said above as well - I would rather be worried about losing him because we are doing well than there being no interest because we are struggling
This is an entirely reasonable concern for a fan of any club... but given our history especially us But it's like being the father of girls. You worry one day a young mans going to sleep with your daughter. And one day they will. All we can hope is it's not too soon and not to someone who we would disapprove of. I guess all we can do is point out what happens to players and managers like who could have been royalty if they'd only listened to us - instead of being enchanted by the glamour and the money and the bling before they were used up and thrown away.
He wont go for money but he d defo go for a chance to manage in the Premiership. I've said before that I hope he stays long enough for us to be able to carry on his way ( and secretly hoping that maybe Stern and Tonge could step up to the plate)
