19 out of 20 of Rodge's slams were on grass? Get real.

Ooops! I lazily quoted a graphic there which I'm sure appeared on BBC this lunchtime. It's possible I am mistaken but I'm pretty sure that's what they put up. But as I think you imply, Wimbledon is the only grass 'slam'. The score there is Roger 8, Rafa 2. I suppose the point still stands, but not to the extent I believed!

At a lazy count, he's won about half on turf and half on all weather (if that seems more familiar vocabulary to you):)

Nadal - Federer- Djokovic seem to have a stranglehold on men's tennis - what happens to all the bright young things who look as if they may do well but never make it.

I'm a bit sad that they don't fit our recruitment policy. I think wages would be an issue too..:(

They're both amazing players & nice lads. Wanted a 5th set, but probably Rog edges it for me...

I only caught the last few games and have to say some of the tennis from both players was fantastic. I would have been quite happy to see another set. Didn’t really care who won but had a very slight preference for Federer. Hope he goes on to beat Djokovic though probably will be watching the cricket unless we are being hammered

Nadal because I couldn't give a shiny **** and Coral gave me a free bet. I still.couldn't give a shiny **** and they gave me another free bet. I placed both bets on Nadal.

Watching two people so good at what they do... It actually doesn't matter what they're doing. It doesn't matter whether you're into that thing or not. You watch anyone else doing it and it may well bore you daft. You watch these two play tennis and it's like watching magic. It's like watching Ronnie O'Sullivan play snooker, or George Best play football, or Dave Grohl play drums, or Judi Dench act... it transcends the activity they're involved in, you're just watching talent. To see two in the same place at the same time is a privilege. I didn't mind who won, I just found it amazing.

That’s because they have a desire for the game and a willingness to change/adapt that i’ve not seen in any other sportsman/woman.
Outstanding athletes and it’s a pleasure to watch the three greatest tennis players tha have ever lived, perform in my lifetime.
Federer is my favourite. It’s fine to talk about his gentle demeanour but don’t be fooled. Underneath is the fiercest of competitors. Would love to see him win the final but I don’t think he will.

It's the same with women. They are talking up Gauff after winning a few games at one major. Sabine Lisicki and Eugenie Bouchard both had one good Wimbledon, got hyped up and did nothing else. Jelena Dokic beat Hingis in the first round when she'd won it the previous year at 16 as still the youngest ever winner and she did little else. The press love to talk people up.

My head says Djokovic - my heart says Federer.
Dimitrov, Raonin, Zverev etc have all been tipped for the top but they've faded away - why do they not have the motivation to get to the top?
Is part of the lack of motivation due to the very large amount of prize money given to competitors who fall at the first hurdle?

You can't ask or answer normal/decent questions on this site anymore without being hammered. it's the squeeze of the righteous few.

Like others I will be watching the England v New Zealand Cricket World Cup Final and will
watch the highlights of the tennis final later. Who knows this could well be Rogers last Wimbledon final.
Novak will probably have other opportunities in the future, so I personally hope that Roger is able to win.
