Straight out of the Daily Heil that rant. Plenty of opinion and low on facts. Most of the people out on the street are single and without families. Income support for someone aged 16-24 is £57.90 per week. The minimum wage in that age group varies from £4.35 per hour to £7.70 per hour. A 20 hour working week would see the youngest paid in excess of £80 per week comfortably in excess of the level of income support they would receive. As Tony Blair has been out of office since 2007, there's been sufficient time for governments of all persuasions to reverse any policies that he might have introduced which might or might not have contributed to the state of towns across the UK so you may as well have also thanked Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Theresa May.
I visit a lot of places for work and as much as it pains me to say it , as it stands it’s rough. Certainly not the loveable place of my younger years by a wide margin. Maybe it’s because I don’t live there any more that I notice it more when I visit. That’s not to say it’s exclusive, Donny is terrible, and lots of towns and cities have similar problems. It’s a society problem that needs sorting but I can’t see a quick fix. although cutting the stupid overseas aid budget that, those pollocks Cameron and Osborne set and diverting it to our own poorer areas would help To say it doesn’t exist though is just blatant denial.
People in this thread arguing over whether it's the fault of Labour, immigrants or the poor themselves. The tories have played a ******* blinder.
Go on then where Have I've said it's Utopia, you've still not answered my question, where have I said even remotely that this problem does not exist.
I have just walked into town & sketched a quick rendition of the centre, oh I see what all you knockers mean now.
There's always been an underclass. There will always be an underclass. Imagine how bad it would be if we didn't exist within an interventionist state. Look across the pond and you see the impact a non-interventionist state has upon its peoples.
Just a thought but he may have been given them . But don’t let me spoil your views on homelessness with such musings .
Wish someone one would give me 120 quid trainers They are not homeless most of them live on Sheffield rd just come into town to scrounge rather than getting a job
Can’t be arsed even trying to debate it with you pal considering the level of your previous replies it would be a total waste of time
It could be much worse. I grew up in Wakey and have made a return visit today after many years away. Can’t believe what’s happened to the city centre - absolute shithole. Makes Keighley look like Knightsbridge, and that’s saying summat. Drunks and spicers clogging up the precinct by the cathedral. It’s proper upset me - genuinely shocked by the state of the place.
Barnsley travel operators are selling out at twenty quid a pop 200 mile round trips to Birmingham to visit their massive new Primark. That says a lot about the standard of shops in Barnsley.
