That did cross my mind. It happened once before with a manager called Danny. Hopefully history won't be repeated
If he goes, Newcastle will be his eleventh Club. He's apparently a lifelong fan of the Club, but he's sure to get some stick from certain sections of the fan base for the time he managed the Mackems. Bruce is only effective if he has money to spend. If Ashley can't or won't provide any, can't see him doing very much really. Ashley will come to rue not supporting Rafa properly, unless he sells up of course.
If you don't mind a correction... for a club of that maaaaaassssssssiiiiiiiiiiiivvvvvveeeeee stature.
Think if he goes ir will be to have a genuine chance if achieving more at a higher level plus he a not stuck to this area due to family. I really cant see it. Danny Wilson had connections with Wednesday so a different scenario.
Been reading earlier that Rafa Benitez was on £6 million per year and that Bruce has now agreed to take the Newcastle job on a salary of £1 million pa, meaning that he will be the lowest paid boss in the whole of the Premiership. He has however been promised an extra £20k a week bonus, if he can keep them out of the bottom three. Ashley was convinced he would only have to pay the Wendies £1 million in compensation for Bruce's release, but they are now demanding £5 million, because as well as Bruce, they would also lose coaches Stephen Clemence and Steve Agnew who would follow Bruce to Tyneside. Ashley is apparently not prepared to pay anywhere near that and is encouraging the trio to simply walk out and effectively break their contracts. The article goes on to say that it's Ashley's philosophy to snap up young unknown talent at bargain prices in an attempt to sell them on for big profits later. ( sounds to be a very familiar strategy). Bruce is therefore attempting to recruit "Chatty Man " Alan Carrs Dad Graham to unearth some gems like he did during his previous stint at Newcastle when he recommended Yohan Cabaye, Papiss Cisse, Mathieu Debuchy and the late Cheick Tiote. Newcastle legend Steve Waddle is quoted as saying that Bruce will find the job difficult with virtually nothing to spend and he thinks it will end in tears for all concerned.
