........ the powers that be at Hillsborough know that their base for supporters comes from north Sheffield and a large part of the South Yorkshire area including large parts of the Barnsley area.

Reports suggest that there are financial problems at Hillsborough.
At the same time Barnsley have owners that collectively are about 20 to 30 times more wealthy than the owners at Hillsborough.
There is a real chance in the next 3 years that Barnsley will become a more powerful club than Sheffield Wednesday.
Barnsley able to sign the better players.

On occasions in the past, when there has been signs that Barnsley have been building up a head of steam, Sheffield Wednesday have stepped in to stop that progress.
Sam Winnall was the last example.
Signed by Sheffield Wednesday who trebled his wage to £1 million per year - for him to sit on the bench.
Don’t be surprised if you hear Sheffield Wednesday are ‘at least’ looking to recruit Daniel Stendel.

    Really?
Sheffield Wednesday’s business plan will be in no way linked to the success of Barnsley Football Club.

Fact of life - if Daniel gets offered the job he'll be off. Only complication is if he sees his future back in Germany and wants just to see the year out, which would be very understandable given his family situation. Either way, we need to start planning for what comes next.

That title just sounds like one of those dodgy click-bait stories...

Barnsley mums are doing THIS and banks are not happy!

Also, I didn't read what you typed.

Unless we had owners willing to trouser their own personal wealth away on a football club we won't be trying to outgun anybody in the transfer market.

I'm hoping we are planning given the entire academy system is moving to his style of play. I'd certainly hope Dale and Chris could have a crack at managing when the time comes. . Not sure money is the motivation for Daniel, surprisingly enough it isn't for some people. Managing a club in the top flight however would be I'd imagine.

I don't think we ever had a production line for managers. It just looked that way when Heckingbottom took over from Johnson. Danny Wilson was recruited as were Morais and Stendel. I think it's a case of best man for the job in the eyes of the owners.

I think that we also need to watch out on this board and in other media for 'fake news' from Wednesdayites. I would not be at all surprised to hear of a Stendel link for that very reason. I have a good deal of faith in Daniel as a coach and as an honourable person and I think that, providing he does land his final one/two striker targets, he will want to sign a new deal and see the task through as far as he can take it, regardless of any Wednesday interest, fake, or real. Winnall and others are cautionary for any Barnsley employee - steal one or two and maybe steal some fans, as well as weakening the opposition. I think that is a motive which has been around in the past and will probably continue, but I have great faith that Daniel will endure, as long as he gets his targets in.

There is plenty of talk of stendel being next manager but I think chansri will plump for a big name to keep the fanbase happy . Zola current favourite.......

Not to the extent that the op is saying, but I believe you'll be much mistaken if you don't think they consider the actions of a local competitor which could over time take custom from themselves as any business would.

They've another club in the same city that's overtaken them. Don't think they'll be bothered what we do.

Yeah they took Winnall from us at a bad time, but that wasn't the deciding factor in us falling away, so hardly a conspiracy.

Apart from offering more money, they have locality in their favour. Nicking local players or managers means they don't have to move homes or schools etc.

I think he was a bit unfortunate at Forest. Hasn't really done a bad job anywhere he's been. He was on the cusp of making Aston Villa into an excellent team until Randy Lerner decided the pull the rug from beneath him.

I have suggested him to my wednesdayite work colleagues along with Gary rowett and recieved nods of approval . Owlstalk seems to think differently though , tis a bit of a sh*tshow over there at the minute . Got their hopes up for Chris hughton which was never going to happen .

Seriously can't see Stendel leaving us this close to the season, they will go for someone currently without a club. I'll feel a lot better when I see a pic of him in Germany with the team though, haven't seen him on any of the pics on social media yet
