Nope. Not everyone who is charged with a criminal offense is guilty is what i'm saying.

    But nice try.

TBH, I don’t know either, although I do know locally to me some people were banned from having any involvement in a football club due to threatening behaviour.
Granted this was Sunday league but would have thought it is covered by similar.
I think the 5 years is also a legal thing as opposed to FA but not sure.
Ultimately if the FA done act they are by default condoning it at least accepting of such behaviour which questions all their other ‘kick out’ campaigns

Edit: just occurred to me fans often get lifetime bans for violence in a ground, if the FA can’t do a lot, would be interesting to see what would happen if we gave him a lifetime ban and his club came to visit.

I wonder if the FTFC chief exec is now planning for a managerial replacement or in putting full weight in defending Barton. Surely the FA / EFL should be looking at the club for failing to control their staff?

I think you will find that some people do actually know. I am presuming the CPS have seen enough evidence also to make a charge

The employer may be entitled to dismiss. But it's not obligatory to dismiss said employee.

I mean does he have a history of violence and law breaking though?

    - Barton sparked a ten-man brawl in a friendly match against Doncaster Rovers on 25 July 2004 after "hacking" at an opposition player
    - The club considered sacking Barton in December 2004 after an incident at their Christmas party. He stubbed out a lit cigar in youth player Jamie Tandy's eye
    - In May 2005, Barton broke a 35-year-old pedestrian's leg while driving his car through Liverpool city centre at 2 am
    - In the summer of 2005, Barton was sent home from a pre-season tournament in Thailand after assaulting a 15-year-old Everton supporter
    - Barton was arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage after an alleged argument with a taxi driver in Liverpool while going to his hotel after a match on 13 March
    - Barton was fined £100,000 and suspended by City until the end of the 2006–07 season on 1 May 2007, following an incident during training when he assaulted his teammate Ousmane Dabo.
    - Dabo said that he had been hit several times, was left unconscious and had to go to hospital after suffering injuries to his head, including a suspected detached retina.
    - On 27 December 2007, Barton was arrested on suspicion of assault in the Church Street area of Liverpool city centre following an incident which took place at 5:30 am. He was remanded in custody on 28 December since the offence was committed whilst he was on bail for two prior offences; the presiding magistrate said: "I also have to consider the safety of the public – you lashed out indiscriminately". CCTV showed Barton punching a man twenty times, causing him to lose consciousness, and attacking a teenager, breaking some of his teeth.
-The club suspension was widely reportedly to have resulted not directly from the red card, but from a dressing room confrontation with Shearer and assistant manager Iain Dowie following the match. Shearer said he made a mistake putting Barton back into the team, and that his tackle was "a coward's tackle", to which Barton replied that he was "the best player at the club", and Shearer had to play him. Shearer said that Barton was not, and that he was "****". Barton replied that Shearer was "a **** manager with **** tactics". When Dowie intervened, Barton called him "a *****".
    - On 10 November, in a 2–1 defeat to Blackburn, Barton again acted violently, punching Morten Gamst Pedersen in the chest.
-Barton courted controversy once again during Newcastle's 3–1 win over Liverpool on 11 December 2010, when he appeared to direct homophobic remarks and a lewd gesture at Fernando Torres.
    - He was later given a straight red card after head-butting Norwich midfielder Bradley Johnson.
-Barton was sent off in the 55th minute for violent misconduct after elbowing Carlos Tevez in the face
    - Immediately after being shown a red card, he kicked Sergio Agüero in the back of the knee and attempted to head-butt Vincent Kompany.
    - Barton had to be dragged from the pitch by former teammate Micah Richards[126] as he rowed with Manchester City players and staff[127] and attempted to square-off with striker Mario Balotelli.
    - On 6 May 2013, Barton was given a two-match suspended ban for describing Thiago Silva of Paris Saint-Germain as looking like an "overweight ladyboy" on Twitter
    - On 21 February 2015, Barton received the ninth red card of his career in the 32nd minute of a match against Hull City after swinging at Tom Huddlestone's groin following a foul by Darnell Furlong.
    - On 26 April Barton was banned from football for 18 months after admitting a Football Association charge in relation to betting.
-On 13 April 2019, following a 4-2 away defeat to Barnsley, South Yorkshire Police launched an investigation after Barton allegedly assaulted opposition manager Daniel Stendel in the tunnel
    - On a stag do in Newquay May 2019, Joseph clashed with another group on a beach with he was filmed on camera throwing punches at 3 separate individuals.

Basically he sounds like an all around nice bloke and these are mostly misunderstandings.

Look at his list of crimes and he's allowed to manage. Then a drunk silly fan goes on the pitch and gets banned for years. It's a nice idea for everyone to be treated the same, but those in the game will always be treated softer. Even if he's locked up he will be allowed another managers job when he gets out.

The Barton story has just appeared on the BBC News webpage as well.
Don't know for certain but I would think that the FA and Fleetwood
Town will reserve judgement on any action, until the outcome of the trial is known.

At the amateur Club I once played for, one of our players was charged by the County FA
for biting an opponents arm during a tussle. He got a 2 year ban for that, even though the
    other lad started it.

If Barton is found guilty, with his past record you would hope that a lengthy
ban or a life ban from involvement in the game could be imposed.
The bloke appears to be totally incapable of controlling himself.

I put June instead of May, the BBS magistrates will give me a stiffer sentence than Barton I'm sure.

My brother and his friend a Bank Official were charged with affray + criminal damage some years ago. My brother a self-employed builder admitted and took responsibility for all that happened (and got a suspended sentence) so that his friend 'got off' all charges. Had the friend been found guilty he would have lost his Banking job.

To be fair to him I don’t think he actually threw any punches, it was people on his stag do if I remember right. Either way he’s still a lovely person
