Probably is now. People are not blind - especially Premier League clubs. The transfer window doesn't close until 8 August. It would be a massive risk to play him against Fulham.
Got a bet on with a friend that he'll score 20 goals this coming season. My friend reckons no Barnsley player will get anywhere near that. I think I may be paid out at New Year. That we got him as a league 1 side was very odd. To get him to sign an extension to his contract just about unprecedented. He finishes better than many premier league strikers and makes it look so easy. He'll be back there soon enough. I hope it's with us, it won't be, but I can dream.
Massive risk to play him? He’s our player and one of our best players so I damn well hope he is playing. He won’t leave this window unless an utterly ridiculous offer comes in surely.
So what is ridiculous? 10M? Suppose he gets a hattrick against former club Fulham? What happens then?
I sometimes think about that finish against Southend when I'm having a fumble with ar lass and want to get things over and done with
Is that because he's bound to score a hat trick, or because he's bound to get injured? We had almost a season of Woodrow in League 1. He scored and performed about the same as Moore. So he's banged in a few in friendly matches - now he's worth 10 million? Well he might be due to football inflation. S'abart it.
Sheffield Utd have been looking at strikers surprised they,ve not come sniffing but like you say 10 million.
What happens if Moore scores a hat trick? OK. Let's send each player on against Fulham with the instructions "play like an arsehole" cos we don't want you to do so well that we have to sell you before the transfer window shuts. Unbelievable Jeff.
I think we should play an XI of season ticket holders drawn from a hat until the end of January just to be safe
If he gets a hat-trick and we take 3 points I would like to think that the only thing that would happen is that we’re all delighted? I’ve honestly never heard of not playing someone in case they do well. I’m quite baffled.
I honestly believe that Cauley knows exactly how much he's appreciated by our fan base. That's probably the main reason he signed the extension. You can tell, he absolutely loves playing for Barnsley. Difficult to predict how many he might score next season. A big factor will be whether he can strike up successful partnerships with our new signings and the type of service they are able to provide for him. Only caught glimpses of today's action, but from what I have seen thus far, have to say I was impressed with Conor Chaplins contribution.
I can kind of see your point, but do you really think that a club is gonna bid for a striker on the basis of one performance?
