A lot of you will know but it’s having big improvements made currently Unfortunately it won’t be open it time for the sheff Utd game. Same brewery who own Shakespeare, Chennels etc So prices will drop by a £1 a pint Going to be made into a sports bar with multiples TV’s around the pub You will be able to walk all the way round the bar now so hopefully quicker serving times Was due to open next week but found asbestos so it’s week after
Do you know if they're likely to have any craft or real ales on tap now they're a member of Craft Union? Looked on their Facebook page but doesn't seem to indicate either way.
Cheers - I always like nipping in every now and again on matchdays for the atmosphere but it'd be nice to have a bit more choice beer-wise.
As a Mount regular, I remember with great affection the famous landlord, Phil Ellington whose occasional retort to anyone ordering anything other than beer or lager was “I don’t do f*****g cocktails!!” How’s that for choice?
Unfortunately the good lord took Phil a few years ago.Smashing bloke and always kept a good pint in BFC social club and The Mount.
Sad to hear that and I know exactly the kind of character you’re talking about. Grew up with those kind of landlords but it’s all moved on. The guy in the Dove is old school but as well as being a top guy, serves some fine ales.
I remember years ago Jack who was about 6 or 7 at the time went to the back of the bar and started pulling half of lager I said to Phil your Jacks pulling half a lager Phil replied I know he don't like beer.
Sadly the "Craft Union" are about as craft as a pint of Fosters top. I'd doubt the beer range would be expansive or original beyond the usual suspects (from my experience.)
