New rule for this season. Should’ve been brought in years ago if you ask me. Also, you cannot now have an attacking player in a defensive teams wall. Which also should never have been allowed in my opinion. A player who has been substituted now has to leave the field at the nearest point. As opposed to walking over as slow as possible to waste time. (This rule wasn’t enforced yesterday tho)
The new goal kick rule will just mean we're able to lose possession of the ball much deeper in our own half and concede after a dead ball much faster. Yesterday showed how good we were from conceding goals from our own free kicks. We've become quite adept from doing so from our own corners over the years. Now we can add goal kicks to the list. New place for player on winning team to stand when he knows he's being subbed? Center spot - furthest point from any touchline. Then the obligatory dad run to the dugout. A strange form of propulsion in which the player runs at a much slower speed than he usually walks. At what point are you stood next to the opposition wall rather than being in it? How far away from the wall do attackers have to stand? Will the ref use his can of spray foam to draw an area around the wall in which no attacking player can encroach, after dramatically under estimating 10 yards. Cameron Mcgeehan was today sent off for encroaching on the opposition wall. The referee ruled his proximity to the defensive wall meant his position made him part of the wall's structure. The referee placed the ball and paced out "10 yards' for the position of the wall. After blowing his whistle to rrstart play he brought it back to an immediate halt as soon the free kick was struck. Mcgeehan was ordered from the field of play. The 25 Yard effort expertly curled into the top corner from the free kick was also ruled out. Mcgeehan's tally for the season will remain at 5. He receives a 3 match ban.
