    They're loving Stendel!

Sheffield mentioned for under achieving with no manager and Charlton, Wigan and Reading tipped to go down.

What are they classing as ‘overachieving’ though? Unless they mean they think we will be promoted (which would be an overachievement) it might be a bit insulting even if meant as a compliment.

    Relegation underachieve
Nearer the bottom and avoiding relegation as expected
I think top half over achieve
    Top.6 - miracle
    Automatic- Stendel announced as God!

I would consider avoiding relegation overachieving given the current squad, what are you inferring from their statement that could be construed as insulting?

If it’s the blokes from Not The Top 20 podcast, they have us to finish 17th, and above the pigs. Their prediction podcast is worth a listen.

I don't think some realise how big a loss Davies, Pinnock and Linsday, and the dynamic they had will be. I hope these new lads hit the ground running but I wouldn't be surprised to see us get beat comfortably by Fulham.

It wouldn't surprise me if some of this vast recruitment spree turn out to be better than what they are generally replacing. But they are 3-5 years younger than the players they are replacing and that's a heck of a lot of games and knowhow.

Fulham could turn out to be the ideal team to play first up, or it could be the absolute worst. A draw (or better), even a slight unlucky defeat would potentially give confidence against one of the expected front runners newly relegated from the Prem. A hammering, especially if our press is ripped apart or fails badly... with so many young players, I fear what that would do to confidence and how they perceive they will do this season.

Overachieving would mean promoted by Easter, 15 points clear and a cup final to look forward to..
Personally, I think it will be a bit tighter than that & anything can happen in FA cup..:)

A bottom half finish (especially lower bottom half) isn’t ‘overachieving’ so I hope they are meaning better than that.

I'm expecting relegation form until Christmas and mid table form thereafter, with us to finish somewhere between 15th and 20th

I think we'd better ask Keith Hill. And whether it does or doesn't involve leg breaking and tightropes.

I don’t see getting beaten comfortably beaten by Fulham as such a bad thing either.
It would hopefully set the standard of where we need to be for the rest of the games.
Having said that it is of course all about the reaction and that includes the fans, we need to keep the faith and show support.

I just can not come to grips with this word overachieving, teams finish up at the end of the season in the position determined by their skill.

I'd say anything above 19th is overachieving for us this season. to finish 13th-16th is a big overachievement and i hope the team and staff get the plaudits they deserve if that happens.

It is relative to the experience and strength of the squad.

Not Pinnock no. Plus it was Lindsays first season with us so any allowances given to Diaby/Halme and Andersen this season should also be afforded to Lindsays performances that season.

Davies was, and I think Lindsay generally was, but Pinnock only played about 11 times if I recall rightly. Think he broke his toe at one point and had a couple of other niggly injuries. I think Jackson had a fair few games, but generally our team was pretty unsettled and I for one don't think we ever worked out the strongest team or formation for it.
