    No, just poems, but I'm writing a PhD thesis which I suppose is a kind of long, boring book which only a handful of people will ever read :D

    This current one.

    Football wise, 2 promotions, 2 Wembley trips, some great wins at Oakwell, some great players to enjoy, including the legend that is Adam Hammill.

    Personally, I retired in 2014 and since then I've had loads of time for long distance walking, skiing, travel, learning web design, beer, curries and red wine. It's been a fine decade so far and it's not over yet.

    Got to be the 60s. The best music by miles I got to see The Beatles, the Stones, Animals, kinks, who, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and got the chance to play good football. Oh and I met the Missus.

    Got 2 favourites for different reasons, 70s for when I first started watching Barnsley home and away, going to Sheffield with Steve Harker, Rog, Reg and Steve to meet mates from Sheffield after Saturday home matches and generally having a great carefree single life. 90s for when I met Susan the love of my life:)

    I remember going to the 'Mojo' (Pete Stringfellow's first club) in Sheffield to see a band called 'Casey Jones & the Engineers'. They had this spotty kid on lead guitar called Eric Clapton. Whatever happened to him?

    Got to be the 00s. I know I have vastly different music tastes to people on here but my god did I like 00s music, I remember on one night out just pausing and being sad that it would eventually change and I didn’t want it to. I’m very philosophical on the rare occasions I drink. :D

    During the 00s, I went to 6th form college where I was free from the horrors of high school at last. Went on first holiday abroad with mates. Went to uni which was just life changing. I also worked in Tenerife for a summer, learned to drive, got my first car and met my husband during that decade.

    Seventies for me with a step into the mid eighties.
    Seventies for music , Slade,Sweet,Thin Lizzy, Led Zep, Deep Purple , Northern Soul etc .
    Football Alan Clarke’s arrival which led to the Reds comeback from obscurity and into the Eighties with Norman Hunter and God .
    Downturn of Eighties for me was Thatcherism.

    70s for me.
    Great music. Tarn gradually improving. Playing so much sport and getting super fit.
    Travelling all over the world courtesy of the RAF and picking up qualifications that set me up for life.
    Spoilt it at the end by getting married.
    Great life.
    80s were good too once I ditched the bitch.

    All the decades have had good and bad aspects to them:-
    1960's: First started watching Barnsley. Lost my Gran, who I was very close to.
    1970's: Music at it's best. Started work. Allan Clarke appointed player/manager. Dad had to leave work due to serious illness.
    1980's: Saw the best Barnsley team ever (along with the best player). Met and married my wife. Son born three years later. Dad's poor health deteriorated rapidly.
    1990's: Daughter born. Barnsley reach Premier League. Dad dies.
    2000's: Got my first degree. Retire. Barnsley reach Wembley for first time. Mum dies. Mother-in-Law dies.
    2010's: Daughter gets degree. Daughter gets kidney transplant. Get second degree. Both grandchildren born. Promoted twice. Win at Wembley twice. Two friends die long before their time.

    They helped me to forget to do any revision. A misspent youth indeed. And if I could have it again, I'd misspend it in exactly the same way.

    I'm sure it's more interesting than my mate's thesis on chemical fluroluminescence, which I proofread for him. I didn't understand anything, and I sincerely hope he spelled all the scientific terms correctly, as I didn't have a clue. Bearing in mind his general spelling abilities, I have severe doubts. Genius chemist and physicist though.

    60s brilliant for me. First job with a great company. Worked in the Gulf, Nigeria and gained my PPL. Music was great, England won the World Cup, and I spent most of it overseas not watching a dire BFC.

    At lass worra massive Bowie fan. I modelled mi hair on Roy wood. The first band I ever saw. Was Wizard 1972 or 73. Barnsley civic. Treat her to Bowie. Wembley 86 ish. Keep it to thissen I was a closet carpenters fan. The Saving grace if anyone mentioned it. Was.My mate was a bay city rollers fan. Shifted the embarrassment onto him. :oops:. Oh to be a teenager again.
