Amazing the difference pitching it up makes, something Broad and Anderson have often struggled with. One cheat down, 2 to go.
Come on, get cheat number 3 cheaply... make Paine regret whipping the Edgbaston crowd up saying they weren't hostile
I thought the Aussies would regret batting first and it is looking likely they're going to be thinking that come close of play today unless they can dig in.
Must admit, I fully expected us to be put in. Dreadful batting line up, shaken up against Ireland, overcast, tacky pitch, lots of ODI cricket and little county or test practice.... very surprised Paine decided to bat. Shame! ;-)
I fancy Broad getting a 5 for at this rate. I'd be absolutely bricking it if I were an Aussie batsmen waiting to come into this.
The red ball swings much more than the white ball therefore it is much harder for the batsmen, especially the top 4 where England (apart from Joe Root) are especially weak.
7 down now! Although I refuse to get excited until all 10 wickets have fell. It would be the most England thing ever to let them back into it from here...
Test cricket is surely dead when teams seem to be consistently making low scores. As much as I enjoy it, it's a product of an age which has passed.
