Name like a Scottish Lord, head like Clare Balding and plays like he's been fed a diet of raw meat. Every Barnsley player deserves praise for their performance yesterday. Primarily for their effort in such hot, humid and energy sapping conditions, but they could play a bit too. It would be difficult to over praise any of them and they could all stake a claim for man of the match. But Cameron stood out for me: he never stopped, was constantly showing for the ball, trying to build up play from the back, making pass after pass, and when not in possession his philosophy was simply thou shlat not pass. The improvements he's made to his game from where he was when we signed him to where he is now is a credit to himself and his obvious determination to get better. Well done Cameron, keep going.
Was only thinking the same. The improvements that he and Mowett have made over the past 12/14 months has been astounding. He was like a terrier yesterday. Constantly communicating others too. Keeping him and Alex this summer is crucial.
They've both signed extensions to their contracts so will be going nowhere. Think they can improve still further as they obviously have the right attitude.
There will be a reason why Stendel has made Bahre captain. But I am astounded that it isn't McGeehan or Mowatt. I would say they are possibly our only two guaranteed starters (though our new centre halves both stamped their claim very well yesterday) and both gave a captains performance.
Mowatt and McGeehan were both immense yesterday. Covered every blade of grass/plastic mix and were also skilfully dominant over the Fulham midfielders. Brilliant to watch.
At the final whistle, all the players happened to be in front of the Ponty, as we'd just had a corner. As the celebrations started, Cam appeared to be shouting at the crowd angrily about something, possibly the Bambo song? He then walked off while the other players were still celebrating, including Bambo dancing to his own song! Anyone else notice this?
Just shows the need to give newbies time although yesterday they all seemed to hit the ground running.
Bamboo diaby, bamboo diaby, he hates the Wednesday he hates united his **** is massive bambo diaby.... to the song of the kids song chocholate (YouTube it) It wasnt really getting sung where I sit apart from one bloke on his own that's how I know the lyrics
I'm no lip reader, but he appeared to be shouting "What's f****** wrong with you?". Anyway, what a brilliant performance from him, he was quite entitled to be really wound up.
