Don’t usually associate with away supporters - but a mate of a mate was up from London - and mi brother got drinking with a bunch of Fulham fans in Sheffield and then on the train to Barnsley. Great bunch of fans - wish all football supporters were as good company as Fulham fans. Great atmosphere in town before and after the match. Fantastic atmosphere inside the ground. Not many seats empty in the home end - if Barnsley continue to play like this then the attendances are likely to increase - surely the management of the club have to start looking at opening the other half of the West Stand. So onto the match. Sibbick - some people had doubts after the Sheffield United match - but there’s a good player here. Bähre - early last season I didn’t rate him - but now if this player can start hitting the target then we have a player here worth £££Millions. Very low centre of gravity so can turn very quickly and cause big problems for opponents. Great performance. Fulham struggling with Barnsley’s high tempo. Should have been more than 1-0. But Barnsley’s weakness of finishing is still a major concern. Barnsley CANNOT afford to have so many chances and shots that do not hit the target. We are going to get turned over if this continues. We have to make these shots and chances count. Another concern is the number of forward passes that go astray from McGeehan and especially Mowatt. Mowatt is a hard worker but he needs to be more productive. Hourihane would have created a hat full of goals against Fulham. Centre backs look brilliant. Whoever it is at the club that is identifying these players is an absolute genius. Wilks - another great signing - brings a nastiness to the forward line that’s been missing since Marley Watkins left the club. Thomas - buzzing about. Will do well. For some unexplained reason the tempo at the start of the second half was a lot slower. With only one goal scored (when it should have been more with chances made) - it gave Fulham impetus to try and get an equaliser - so they pushed forward. This was the opportunity to bring a Kieffer Moore type player on to hoof the ball up to. So if he goes - we need a replacement that can fill that role. All in all a great game, a great atmosphere, a great day. And if yer reading this and thinking about starting to attend again - then you need to get down there. Brilliant !!!
If you don’t usually associate with away fans how do you Know other fans aren’t as good as Fulham’s? Agree about atmosphere
Cheers for that Nudge, I couldn’t get to the game yesterday but I’m loving all this positivity that’s surrounding the club at the mo.
no way would the wife get me to Meadowhall on match day especially when there’s loads of ironing for me to do
Just watched the highlights didnt realise yesterday how good Bahre wss. Outstanding player, making him captain was a great decision snd i didnt see it coming. 1. He plays the Stendel way 2. He can communicate with Stendel better than anyone but also his english is excellent so he can pass on instruction quickly and accurately. 3. Being captain definitely made him stand up and lead by example. 4. Technicaally and quality wise he is our best player.
We grew into the game - at first we looked nervous, especially Alex M and Thomas, a few too many passes going astray. But once we found a foothold in the game it was back to Plan A - over power the opposition with quick, athletic breaks. Loved the day - but I'm a realist and the number of new players we have will take time to gel in terms of consistency.
Cant believe I'm going to say this but I think you're pretty much bang on with what you've said Nudge.
I still cant get into that habit of texting your missis since you got married to ask her if your going to the match.
One Fulham fan said our only tactic was to press them. Another said they could have won had they taken their many chances. Their manager was less bitter, and saw it for what it was. We were better all over the pitch and in the stands on the day.
The Fulham forum is full of clutching at straws comments. One or two sensible ones have simply agreed we were best team on the day. Some claim foul on their player before we scored, penalty to their centre forward, etc Its ok as i don't see them having anything else to say to relieve their pain
