Let’s see what happens this week! I think this transfer has been rumbling on for a while so I’d be surprised if we didn’t have a player lined up.
Re sell ons, we only have to pay Ipswich. Any sell on Forest Green have would be for profit Ipswich make so they (Ipswich) would owe them from what we send their way. I have a feeling the deal will be £2.5million, add ons not counting yet, so 10% of 1.75million profit. £175k to Ipswich. Enough but hardly bank breaking - still leaves plenty to bring in a replacement. Can’t see them spending £2million+ on one player though.
He has gone to a club that has posted a £7million pound loss in 2018 and is currently owned by a Hong Kong casino and hotel business. With the present unrest in Hong Kong (A place I lived and worked in for 21 years) I think the restaurant and casino business might be a bit dodgy - although the Chinese are mad gamblers - it could be a risky move. Look at the clubs under pressure right now - Bolton and Bury who can't pay their players. Thanks to Patrick Cryne (and possibly to Paddy Doyle as well - despite what has been said about him) we have a solvent club that is paying its way and largely debt free. We have a diverse group of investors and a business plan - part of which is making profits on young players who want to leave. We have done this and invested the money wisely on the spreadsheet model as far as we can tell. Good luck to the lad - it's a short career...
Crazy thing is you can make a loss of £38.999m over 3 years and still be deemed to be compliant of FFP at present.
I know, it's complete ********. But if a club starts operating unsustainably, as I suspect Wigan are, those losses can very quickly snowball.
I believe what he said was that they weren’t actively looking to sell anyone. But the elephant in the room was his assertion that everyone bar Brown was match fit despite the absence of Kieffer from the pre season plans.
I believe what’s probably happened is one of two scenarios (with no proof to back it up) 1) Moore was told he was not going to be first choice so chose to ask to leave, 2) DS wanted a specific forward and the club said fine but you need to lose one and he/club opted for Moore, which if other option was CW I would agree with. Ultimately he was a good player for us during his time here, I wish him luck and we move onwards
Agree. Its the point the owners can't sustain the debt and the economic climate has a bigger downturn that it will get messy. With a pending hard brexit, one of the likely spin offs is a hardening of lending criteria and banks starting to call in more loans. Unconventional lending could become less affordable and less available. FFP seems to just be a fly in the ointment for clubs to drive themselves into oblivion.
I actually think it will stick with him because he wasnt expecting it. I was in the crowd and wasnt expecting it to be so loud! His letting slip.on Sky that he'd be back before the season end and then the build up on twitter was the shot of adrenalin we needed imo to get us over the line comfortably
