...or Tavernier (young as they may be) they are a clear sign of progress. I would include the signings of Woodrow, Malik Wilks and Luke Thomas in this bracket. I really wanted the club to hold on to EP (less so LL/AD) and I do that think holding on to EP, LL and AD would also have represented progress, but it didn't happen. Selling KM was fair enough, if he wanted off. I don't think he would have greatly improved in the coming years, and he hardly lit the Championship up during our relegation season. (If he scores 15 for Wigan this year, I'll donate £100 to an OCD charity.) And, as others have pointed out (at length) our immediate competitors are demonstrably capable of offering wages we cannot/will not pay. The owners (personally wealthy as they may be) have made their intentions clear: young lads with potential who will (given our status) likely be sold on if they perform. This, of course, has its downsides: i) we lose players reaching their peak; ii) you will sign some non-league duds. Points which others have also pointed out. However, do I prefer this method to an administration that signed a dog-shoooooot 39 year-old Liam Lawrence that could barely walk? Yes. Do I prefer it to signing a 78 year-old Mike Pollitt? Yes. 56 year-old Delap? 36 year-old Lita? etc. Absolutely. Point being, those players are the other side of this coin, for the most part. And I am far more excited by our current prospects. Finally, if you support Barnsley purely because "it's fun", I suggest you consider switching Man City. Anyway: Here's to Wendy 0-7 Tarn (CW 3/ OG 4)
