You don’t say, is this the first time you’ve mentioned it?

The point I was making DWLC (perhaps not as clearly as I could - but that is down to a Belgian Trappist monastery) is that even if we still have doubts about such powerful people buying in, the football strategy looks a winning one. I admit I'm giddy after last Saturday, but Fulham had difficulty living with us. And them just fresh out of the Premier League, so they were. I concede there will be hiccups along the way - perhaps even an odd tonking or two. But it looks like overall we are headed for some rich entertainment along the way. So I wasn't really commentating on a long term financial strategy. If that's what you're after there might be more entertainment talking about Sirius Minerals!

So our consortium has the exact same members as the consortium at nice? What position was paul conway or james cryne in the nice consortium?

I like conway and their looks to be a long term plan for the club for the 1st time in my time if following, with these young players on 4 and 5 year deals. Some will work and no doubt a couple might not but it isn't just guess work how these players are selected.

I would have liked Daniel to get 1 or 2 players of championship experience we don't know the board didnt try for this. I imagine we are still looking good financially for future windows.

'Championship experience' is predictable. We are unpredictable, as Fulham found!

I’m off to Ghent and Leuven in a few weeks so hopefully I’ll be as Trappist as you ;-)

BBS poster Jay has spoken to barnsleyfc.co.uk about the summer transfer window.

He said: "I considers the summer 2019 transfer window of incoming scatter cushions the most successful in my life’s history. Twelve permanent scatter cushions of varying colours and material were purchased, velour, wool, silk in a mixture of pastels complimenting a lovely rug that my partner purchased in the last window.

We strongly believe we have significantly upgraded the feng shui of the living room notwithstanding that we have no bricks and mortar around it. Most cushions were procured from such reputable stores as John Lewis and ‘And Other Stories’ and will give us excellent wear. Mrs Jay is extremely proud that all new scatter cushions sit perfectly and prominently on our new sofa. Our strategy is very clear with a strong focus on good quality cushions with a hallmark of real quality. We will not be purchasing cushions from the likes of Asda Home again in the pursuit of short term gain. We once again want to thank our tremendous supporters and we look forward to seeing many of you on Saturday. Come on you Reds!"

Why would James Cryne have helped buy Nice with Chien and Conway? Random

I don't know the exact structure of equity at Nice as it was/is (not sure if the structure is even visible given the investment vehicles have been set up in Hong Kong and there is much more opacity than our own companies house).

They seem to have suggested a similar 80/20 set up with existing faces making up the minority. My perception, but not possible to know is that Conway and Lee are the main drivers at both investments, with the existing people being more operational in their roles.

At the intro when they took over, they supposedly had a structure outlined which was never shown or verbally discussed. So I genuinely couldn't tell you what the equity splits are, what roles those directors have, or the consortiums ambitions and objectives. because they sadly haven't shared them with anyone. Not uncommon. just means we have to judge subjectively and involve copious amounts of guesswork from our own personal insights and experiences.

    Good old American overstatement.

Let's wait until we've seen how these new lads get on in a league they're untested in before claiming they're a significant upgrade on some excellent players we've lost, eh Paul?

Also, the 'not developing players for other clubs' part rankles when we sell players to our competitors so often.

So glad those times are behind us and we keep our best players now!

Agree with the general sentiment of the statement. However, not one of those 12 players is anything like a replacement for Kieffer Moore. I know he wanted away, but he's also a professional. Look at what happened at Palace today with Zaha. No replacement, no move. He will now be expected to honour his contract, be professional and continue to give 100%. Bad bit of business for me that, selling him with no replacement.

We seem on here to applaud a 4 year contract for a footballer whilst at the same time accepting without question that if he wants to subsequently dishonour it then that's fair enough.

Conway and Lee are only ones with ownership in both clubs
