2.30 Haydock MISS O'CONNOR (7/4) Eleven length winner on soft ground at Nottingham last time - steps up in class here but looks capable of better on only her third run. 3.05 Haydock WISSAHICKON (5/1) Not much between this one and Addeybb, but whereas the latter is only 11/10, Wissahickon is available at 5/1 (11/2 in a place). Moreover, Frankie goes all the way up to Haydock for just the one ride on Wissahickon - surely a tip in itself. The horse won last year's Cambridgeshire. 3.45 Newmarket SOFFIKA (7/1) Ryan Moore went up to Pontefract on a Sunday to ride this one on it's winning debut. Running green, it got the hang of things late on but still ran out a comfortable 2.75 length winner. Will relish the step up up to 7 furlongs and James Doyle is a very able deputy with Ryan off to America to ride at Arlington tonight. On the scale of 1. Good chance 2. Fair chance 3. Speculative bet I'd rate these three in the 'Fair chance' category. I'll be backing them singly and in a Trixie (three doubles, one treble = 4 bets). My footie treble is West Brom/Porstmouth/Rotherham, which pays just over 5/1.
West Brom looks a banker but you never know until things settle, I've been tipped Dark Lady in the 345 at Newmarket
I think you're right about the two horses in the 3.05 but I would come down on Addeyb simply because of the known ground. Wssahickon may well win but it's a risk given the going. As for the 3.45 at Newmarket, given the horse has good ratings already over 7f I would suggest Light Blush as an alternative to Soffika. Soffika may well improve further but the point is for me it will have to to beat Light Blush over the trip. The 2.30 at Haydock I'm leaving alone though as I suspect Feliciana De Vega may be the fly in the ointment after a lay off but it's too much of a risk. What do I know though???
Yep - as KamikazeCo-Pilot hinted, the ground was always a question mark. Better they pull it than it carry our money on unsuitable ground. In those circumstances I'd suggest Addeybb is now some value - even at a shade of odds on. Note that soft ground is a positive for Miss O'Connor.
What about both managers? Last time we played there Hecky was sent to the stands after a ruck with Lee Bullen!
Soffika ran well for second but was just a bit too green against the Johnson horse who was typically well-prepared. Good day though - apart from Hillsborough!
