Good point. Why the necessity to be the same as all other forums? Why can't we be different? Anyway, I take full responsibility for our defeat today. It wasn't due to a lack of Championship experience. It was my failure to have a shave. We rarely win when I'm covered in stubble!
There’s a reason all other forums do it though. It’s just better in every way. I’ve yet to hear a valid argument against match day threads/topic based threads other than “we want to be different” of “that’s how we’ve always done it” Nothing against you btw
Mainly because this site has never done it. Only with recent new members over the last couple of years as it kept being requested. I assume at this stage it is from new members which have come from other sites. Things I notice are things like.... O/T In peace And certainly bow the site has gone from light hearted jokes and fun it has become a place whereby everyone attacks everyone if they don't agree. This site is pretty much becoming like all the others. And Poorer it is for doing so.
It takes longer to find out the score. I dont think it's that big a deal to have different threads going. We're not that big a forum!
Me when I'm on holiday. I literally have no idea why now I've read this post but it's true, when I'm away when there's a match on I always come here and have a quick scan and think 'it must still be 0-0, no-one's posted' or 'yes, we're winning' etc. I'm now wondering why I never just go to the BBC or something but I literally always check here desperate for news.
I agree, hate such threads with 300 posts of banality, rather than separate shorter threads linked to aspects of the game. We've had this debate before and many people are opposed to matchday threads, so I don't know why we get a blanket email telling us to stick to one now.
I agree with this, it's so easy for it to go in 5 different tangents at once - someone having a conversation about the ref, others about who we should sub, others reminiscing about a match in the 70s we once won, someone talking about tickets prices, someone else about corner routines etc. and it becomes a complete mess. I think I prefer the separate threads because I mainly use the internet on my laptop and if I hover over a thread it pops up with the content of the first post. Therefore, if there's a thread with no replies, I don't need to click it to read it. When I'm on my phone it is more annoying having to click into every single thread just to see it says 'get in' or whatever.
I’ll never post in it and I didn’t read it today either. Impossible thread. In fact, while we are on it I still think this version of the bbs is inferior to the threaded view in virtually every way.
I do when away. It's generally quicker than most other sites because of internet delays. Funnily enough, last season (for obvious reasons) I spent a lot of time giggling on the Sunderland forum. It was lightning fast. As an example, the first I heard about Jacob Brown's last minute goal at Walsall was on the Sunderland site in a special Barnsley matchday thread. I read a post "And there it is" and knew what had happened. Much mirth ensued..........
