"Moore was like a tree trunk, ball kept bouncing off him in all directions. Haven't seen much of him, but didn't look like a patch on Clarke from that display."
Most comments I saw last week from Wigan fans when he signed was he would be the perfect target man in the 4-5-1 formation they play. We all knew he cannot play the lone striker role.
Weird thread. One sub appearance. Very uncomfortable about our fickle fans white washing his fantastic time with us. Talented player and he will be a credit to their team when he settles as he would have been to ours if we didn’t cash in and leave the squad weaker. Also to the arsehole in the post above- you’ve taken quotes from 2 quotes from Preston fans in your pathetic research project.
Pulls our club down- check. Has a go at another poster - check. Slates our transfer policy- check. I think I've got a full house on DusThaNo bollocksbingo.
I don't think he likes the new owners, prefers millionaires who have to plug the decifict each season.
I feel strangely defensive of him reading that but if it was his wish to leave then maybe he ll learn the hard way to appreciate what hes got in the here and now. Ironic Grigg major signing from Wigan totally unimpressive at Sunderland and then Wigan major signing from us might be going the same way!
Yep - that comparison was what came to my mind too! I think DusThaNo has missed the point here. It wasn't about slagging Big Keiffer off. It was about his new fans' first impressions of him. I think we all know his strengths and weaknesses. He did a grand job for us last season, but I'm not convinced Daniel would have seen him as central to how he wants us to play in the Championship. And my view is that Wigan may not have got what they thought they were getting when they bought him. I hope the lad does well in time, but in my opinion our club has had the better part of this deal.
100%. It would’ve given us another dimension that we were desperate for during that game. Shame really but onwards and upwards!
Interesting comment from Kieffer in the football league paper regarding his move to Wigan. “The move has been in the pipeline for a long time, so to finally get the deal over the line and sign here is a brilliant feeling” It’s been a funny business all summer and no idea what the heck was going on, with him not going to France etc.
I don’t think there’s been anything weird about the Moore move at all. He must’ve made it clear he wanted out as he knew he could earn far more money elsewhere & pushed to get his move by not going abroad initially. What is weird is a lot of our fans suddenly pretending he isn’t very good or making out that Stendel doesn’t rate him. I can’t understand why people can’t just accept he wanted more money rather than slating the player or making up reasons for his departure. The amount of clubs he’s had in his career shows that he’ll go wherever the money is as soon as he gets the chance.
One thing that sticks in my mind from the Sheffield United match is that after the final whistle Kieffer stood for a while and watched the fans leaving the Ponty End - from where I was he looked quite upset. I think he has enjoyed his time at Barnsley and he will know that Barnsley has given him a leg up to higher wages.
