Are Wigan tomorrow’s Bolton and Bury?

2 teams stand out for me as vulnerable to dropping back down the leagues.

Reading and Wigan are traditionally small clubs that have had investment and massive spikes in attendances compared to their lower league days.

Fans that jump on bandwagons are well known for jumping back off when things aren't as good,

Reading and Wigan aren't going to get back into the premier league anytime soon. If anything they're more likely heading to league one.

Both are paying more in wages than us on similar or smaller gates, which means they are sailing close to the wind.

I think that if you take away investment, they both go back to lower league football with sub 10k gates.

Heard Moore’s on 16k a week, really can’t blame him for pushing for the move.

What’s baffling is how Wigan can afford them wages with no parachute payments & similar crowds to ourselves.

I’ve got no sympathy for Bolton & any other clubs that get themselves into trouble by overspending.

There’s a lot of people been sympathetic towards Bury at the minute but this forum was full of people talking about how they were an accident waiting to happen a few years ago when Flitcroft was manager & they were getting the St. George’s Park treatment & paying substantial fees & offering big wages for players to drop a division.

If we could see it where were all the Bury fans & media asking questions?

Some probably did, but the majority maybe thought they were going to power up through the leagues.

There's a selfish 'enjoy it now, ask questions later' to some fans.

No doubt some of our own fans would have seen our takeover as the start of us throwing money at getting into the prem. Some would have welcomed it.

They can't be a Wigan fan told me only reason Moore went there was because they have better ground, training facilities, basically better everything

He didn't go for money then? No ....

Dangerous path to tread... traditionally not even a football town but rugby league.
