    There isn't a similarity.
We can all be abused - we can all take offence...

But the law protects certain characteristics because certain members of society have historically been attacked more than others.

    Again - it's 2019 who doesn't understand protected characteristics?

So are you suggesting people have to leave their seats so people around them can illegally set off flares/smoke bombs just to have a laugh?

    Bit backward that like.

If my post caused any offence it was intended to, maybe if the player in connection was to come out and ask the fans to stop then the fans may listen, a suppose when he’s dancing along with the fans last week it just makes them sing it even more

It's what we call 'whataboutery' - we can't arrest the knuckledraggers letting off smokebombs in a controlled environment in direct contravention of a specific law - because the team bus used smokebombs perfectly legally???

We can't call out the racists chanting about a Black mans c0ck because other people have done it.

It isn’t obvious that I have an issue with this subject at all. I have an issue with the same threads being repeated over and over again. There’s plenty of other threads for this discussion to be repeated.

Well then you have the imagination of an amoeba.

Your club will again be associated with racism and you're happy to accept that.

The offending lyrics don’t fit the tune... hence why a lot of the crowd haven’t really heard the true meaning. The club has changed the lyrics apparently, just use the new lyrics!!!

Just stop singing the racist words!

Yes you are. The only reason mention of penis size is mentioned in the song is because he is black. I challenge anyone to provide evidence of a song of a white player where the large size of their manhood is celebrated.

My point is about example setting.

The club has changed the lyrics, yep that happens. Been supporting the reds since 1989 and I want a refund as I have not received my updated chanting sheet. Get a grip.

    Why you attacking me?
I’ve joined in on a topic and offered a suggestion that maybe the player could issue a statement asking the fans to stop singing it and you have a pop at me

If he is personally offended by it or not does not change the fact that its racist.

Anyone who can justify the setting off of flares on the Hillsborough concourse and the fans making the stewards life a misery, just don’t get it and never will.

There’s no point arguing. Save your breath.

But it doesn't work - it's like equating giving a 14 yo a glass of wine at Sunday dinner with the pissed up kids ripping out our seats.

There's a time and a place, and more importantly there are laws.

Example setting takes account of the rules and grey areas, you cant just say 'if its ok for Grandad to get pissed at Christmas, then it's OK for me to have 4 pints and drive home.

Get a grip of what? Just either stop singing the song or change the words. Easy.

Calling someone a pikey is also offensive. This doesn't mean we should condone singing the Bambo song. One doesn't have to be offended to think something is wrong. If somebody calls a woman a slut, for example, it doesn't offend me, however I would think it was wrong. Ditto the term pikey, paki, ****** or the singing of the Bambo song.

On this thread people have pointed out he was dancing to the song after the Fulham game. I'd be quite surprised if he knew what the words were in the song, other than hearing several thousand people singing his name after a great win.

Reinforcing racial stereotypes is reinforcing racial stereotypes, regardless of it being a perceived positive or negative trait.

I wouldn't say I'd attacked you, but I was responding to...
How do you expect people to react to behaviour designed to cause offence?
