Fact is some of our fans are racist, thick, let off smoke bombs and invade the pitch

The club have requested twice for this to stop.

Daniel Stendel shared the Club Statement on his Facebook page today. What does that tell you?

Let's also not forget that Bambo isn't the only black player in the squad. Nobody knows how he really feels. One thing for sure, when he was dancing around to it he just thought the fans were singing his name and had no idea what the words were (from what I've been told anyway). Will it take a 21 year old, new to the club, new to the country, to put out a statement asking fans to stop before they do?

It isn't an adaptation of the Lukaku song. Those lyrics are totally different and are sung to the tune of Stone Roses’ Made of Stone.

Bizarrely, when we signed Diaby, there was a clamour for him to be given the No.5 shirt so that 'Mambo Number 5' could be adapted to be 'his song'.
He duly gets awarded the number 5 shirt and our resident tea cakes want to sing about his tallywhacker instead!!

For all Diaby knows, the fans could be singing that song to him. I guess he was encouraged to take that number due to our fans requesting it based off a song. He does and then straight away our fans start chanting a song loudly at him. If he doesn’t speak the language and has never heard the song it wouldn’t be hard to put two and two together and make five.

You keep saying your brother in law is embarrassed by these incidents and yet you’ve not actually provided any examples of when this alleged abuse took place.

I missed 8 games last season. I can’t recall hearing any racist chanting by ‘50 drunken yobs’ . I’ve heard a few dickheads make comments and they’ve been challenged by me or I recall in one instance by Hicksy and his crew.

I’ve challenged gangs of yobs making monkey noises in previous seasons, I’d have come out worse but its not the point.

The worst it got this season was two spotty little oiks thinking ‘coonvare’ was funny at Shrewsbury. For about 5 minutes...

At no point have I suggested that I accept racism at Oakwell or tolerate racists at Oakwell so stop attempting to put words in my mouth.

What offends you be it racist, sexist or some other ism I suspect will be on a similar vein to mine however, unlike you who seems to view everything in black and white I don’t.

Not everything is straight forward, sometimes you have to understand the context a comment or a gesture was made in and take it from there. Jay and Casual Tyke have both made very rational posts regarding the Diaby song and the use of what terms are considered acceptable in modern society and how easy it is to make such remarks.

As an example. The term coloured was used in a reply to Casual Tykes comments, it’s classed as a racist term. Were you offended or did you take it in the context of it being a Freudian slip? Is Pompey red a racist off out with his pitch fork or did he make a mistake?

    Anyway, moving on...

Have you seen some of the comments made to other posters regarding this topic over the last few weeks. A lot of it is frouthing at the mouth climbing the pole of self righteousness. There’s been threats, bullying, abuse and a number of comments pushing close to the knuckle to what some might be insulted and upset over.

This entire Diaby saga has seemingly brought out the worst in a lot of people in how they have reacted to mostly rational comments made.

And I include you in that.

And yes, I have friends who were in the Edl, I’ve got friends who are Corbin obsessed, friends who are socialists but don’t do Corbin, I train and socialise with people from all sorts of different ethnic backgrounds just as examples.

Variety is the spice of life. Spending time with different people different backgrounds and different political views makes life interesting. I might not always agree or like their viewpoints but it beats living in a bubble where you all share the same opinion on everything.

Oh before I forget if you are going to quote my comments make sure you do it correctly. At no point did I say my best mates were in the EDL.

That could be construed if either myself or my best friends gave a **** ... As defamatory.

I'll take a pen and paper next time and write these examples down - and yes I have I have given specific details on here, reading is your friend.

As for the "Some of my best friends are in the EDL" line? It was a reworking of the old "Some of my best friends are black" defence, which racists like to use. But obviously you missed the reference, which I'm not surprised about to be honest.

But as you say, moving on. I've said my piece on the subject now, hopefully it can get stamped out. I'm not holding my breath though.

Edit: And of course Pompey Tyke isn't a massive racist. Blokes singing racist songs at football matches are. Which is why I'm offended and angry by them, and not him. I thought that may have been clear by now.

Too many clubs these days in england are trying to be like the green brigade (celtic) and union bears (rangers) with flares, chants, ultras etc. Excellent atmosphere but attracts a lot of bell ends. I go up there to games now and again still. I can assure you Scottish football violence as took over English football now for been *****. These days it’s all jelly baby’s throwing bottles at eachother at the most and singing in concourses and seeing who can do the best rolly fooking polly

True, it didn’t help matters as some people can’t tell the difference between the two situations and so will equate one as being the same as the other.

The problem with Mambo Number 5 is it doesn't actually say the words Mambo Number 5 in the lyrics so it doesn't really work. We had a similar problem in the mid 90s when we signed the Indian/English/Finnish player Moeen Ian Lappsöddi.

A bit too downbeat about a poor, poor showing at Oakwell, tonight, to get into a pedantic argument.
And whilst I don't have the talent or inclination to write a set of lyrics to accommodate some of our players into the song, I can assure you that those words do feature in the song.

Sorry, I meant in the main catchy bit. Plus it was mainly a set up for a sh*t joke, I wasn't having a dig (or trying to justify the other song)

    Found it.

This was one of the final straws for me.

    Fast forward four years later....
