The poor lad had a nightmare of a game and IMO and Carlisle goals were mainly down to his mistakes and him uneasy with the playing it out from defence plus there was a lacksidasical attitude by others which didn't help. The ball went right through his legs for the first one into the path of the CarlIsle forward who couldn't believe his luck I expect. But Daniel Stendel is no fool and will sort them out .Some of the determination and spirit shown against Fulham was sorely missing last night.
Highlighted him by name on sky round up just now. On the plus side he can only improve on his next performance
Poor lad. He started OK, and looked quite assured and cool - our kind of defender. Unfortunately the next 88 minutes didn't quite work out.
On paper, the new lads we have signed all have the ability and the capacity to mature into very good players in the future. Unfortunately what they don't have is collective Championship experience and that is precisely where they now find themselves playing. Last night does appear to have been a nightmare showing . The one consolation is that on Saturday, DS can hopefully field a team who will be able to put on a performance. The last thing the players need especially after the euphoria of last season, is the fans turning on them, so early into the new season.
Its not so much turning on the players but showing frustration at the higher ups but unfortunately it ends up as negativity in the crowd which effects the players. Bad performance on setday and all last seasons hype and the fulham game will be a distant memory in the space of 2 games. Thats how fickle football is. I couldn't wait for the fulham match but im not looking forward to charlton one bit.
I hope Cam gets his form back, as two of the goals last night resulted partly from sloppy passes from him, in dangerous areas.
Agree CT. That and a reckless tackle in the area conspired to gift them three goals. https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/teams/barnsley/11784761/barnsley-0-3-carlisle
He's being criticised on social media. I don't think he will feature on Saturday, but when he does play next, its to be hoped that he and other players are not subjected to jeers from our fans, as that will do nothing to boost their self confidence. https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2019/08/...to-aapo-halmes-debut-after-joining-from-leed/
I’m not going to defend Halme as he was awful but he wasn’t responsible for his team mates been poor. McGeehan, Anderson & Pinillos were all terrible in the first 20 minutes before Halme started playing badly
No one looks good when the team fails collectively, as it did. Oddly, I thought Cam kept trying, as did Callum, and Pinillos came more into it after a rusty first half, and Thiam did his best to put himself around. Having said that Halme had an awful night and I feel for the lad. He was not at the races physically and got a harsh lesson on the strength of English lower division football. Just a bad night all round. We could have shipped half a dozen goals. Can see Saturday being very difficult. Too many new players, not enough time to bed them in, and a reckless approach to sanctioning outgoing transfers without thinking seriously about the consequences.
Halme had a shocker there’s no denying that. He certainly wasn’t alone though as the likes of Anderson, McGeehan, Thiam, Wilks and Woodrow were all very poor too. He’s been made a bit of a scapegoat which is a bit harsh on a 19 year old making his debut.
