I chucked out of the pram last night. I've stopped sulking, wallowing in self pity & pouting.
But as everyone else has said, it was abysmal, awful, turgid, embarrassing and humiliating.
I still back Daniel Stendel and his staff 100% & come Saturday I'll get behind the lads on the pitch, whoever is selected. It comes from being an old fan. Not a better fan, nor a more knowledgeable one. Simply an old one.

Not one leader out on the pitch last night, you couldn’t hear anybody apart from Collins geeing anybody up. I’m not a Byron Webster fan but he did that all night for Carlisle encouraging, cajoling, calming, fathering, organising. All I saw McGeehan do was ruffle his hair, stroll about and just stare when anything went wrong. It needs more from a captain when you sense and see the other nine outfield players around you dropping their heads.

Telling that after a win our official Twitter account is quick to retweet all the players tweets so they can rightly get praise for a victory. But last night the account didn't have any retweets because players probably didn't bother tweeting so they didn't get their feelings hurt.

Did anyone who played last night said sorry on social media?

I'm old. I don't need to wash my hands!

Don’t worry about it. Most of us rate Stendel & I think most of us lay the blame at the players but whoever’s to blame if a performance is that bad the toys ought to be chucked out of the pram. It’s not acceptable.

I liked Stendel’s comments after that no one can be satisfied apart from the keeper. No dressing it up & kidding himself that there were any positives. Saying as it is & knows it wasn’t good enough

I laughed at the scoreline last night, and headed straight on here for the fallout.

I wasn't surprised that we struggled against a league 2 side. We normally do in this cup. I was glad I didn't attend.

The scoreline and performance were the shocker for me though. My mate texted me and said it was the worst he'd seen in a long time.

Yeah we were outplayed at the weekend, but other than that, we've just come off the back of automatic promotion, and a cracking win against Fulham to extend our long unbeaten home run - the whole of the squad should be buzzing, yet confidence seems so fragile.

Hopefully, we'll see a marked improvement on Saturday.

Thought it was strange from the off , crowd weren't up for it and neither were the team. I knew it was going to be an unusual one when my programme turned out to be a poster:)

You can all think yourself lucky I travelled home to Liverpool with a Leeds and a Carlisle fan :)

Has anybody noticed the other teams knocked out. Get over it and shout even louder on Saturday now.

I agree with everything you've said. For me, last night felt too much like one of the games when we were last in the Championship. No goal threat, too weak in the middle, and gaping holes at the back. I'll give everyone the benefit of the doubt though, some of those lads are seriously lacking game time, so to be overly critical would be unfair - not to mention that it would be harsh on Carlisle, they put a shift in and got their reward.

I'm not dusting off my Iley Out chant just yet.
    Maybe next month. ;)

We might go down, I think its happened before. We might stay up, I think we've done that before too.

Have to admit when the 3rd goal went in I switched it off.... had a flounce then a couple of glasses.. I am past it now, I just hope there has been no adverse effect on confidence and Mojo. Saturday will not be easy, Charlton have had a great start to the season and will want to carry it on. It may be a tougher game than the Fulham game TBH.

Comment elsewhere suggesting that was the worst match they'd ever seen Barnsley play in. I first started watching the Reds in the 60s and I'm sure I've seen worse but the memory is not what it was. After all, growing up, it never rained during the six week holidays. I'm sure it did rain but those aren't the days I remember. Hopefully last night's game will also be erased from my memory bank along with other worst ever performances!

Same stage last year Blackpool turned over our experimental second string.
I remember DS and winkler being shocked at midweek football.

We drew at home the following Saturday
I would take a draw from Saturday at the moment.
