Given the absence of Mowatt? Just asking, like.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Ben Williams play central midfield today.

I’m sure he could play in goal if asked, but it doesn’t mean it’s a good idea.

Maybe Bähre to replace Mowatt with Chaplin further forward? Not convinced he’ll start with Styles.

Got to give styles a chance. However, wouldn't mind Bahre dropping back and Chaplin coming in.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see us getting seriously overrun in midfield if that’s the case. Surely there’s a natural midfielder in the under-23s? Wolfe?

You can get away with stuff like this in league one, but not as easy in this division. This is where an experienced midfield general would have been a good idea, not expected to play every game but more than capable to step in to cover injuries. Weak as Carling in midfield with just one injury.:(

Same 11 as Fulham but Styles replaces mowatt
Bahre is a 10 not a midfielder imo.
Didn't shine last season in mf

Suppose it has to be styles, i presume thats what the management team is comfortable with bearing in mind no midfielders were brought in.

Bearing in mind Dougall being out we were always one injury away from a midfield crisis. Even a loan until January would’ve seen us covered. Loans seem to be out of the equation though now with these owners.
If Mowatt is out long term I’d look for a free agent on a short term deal. We may have no choice if Styles isn’t up to it.

I have been thinking all week that it would be Styles for Mowatt but I now think he will probably play Bahre deeper and then maybe Thomas in the Bahre No.10 role and then either Chaplin or Thiam to come in to play in the front 3. Thomas is decent at tracking back so I think he will trust him to get involved in the midfield battle more centrally. Given what Bahre did against Charlton for an hour in the game last December then giving him the responsibility to try and run the midfield may well come off today.

    Let's wait and see....

We don't have too many options but I don't think Toby will be one being considered. I personally think Styles will get his chance.

Imagine how Styles would feel if we did that.

Really wasn’t impressed by Styles on Tuesday but it was his first start & I’d much rather persist with him than drag others out of position.

Don’t think Cavare’s got quick enough feet or agile enough to play central midfield

Styles. The other 10 same as Fulham. Anything else is just bonkers.

Bähre could quite easily sit in front of the back four if required but I think he’ll go with Styles. If he doesn’t then you have to question why we haven’t recruited an additional central midfielder in the summer if the next in line isn’t deemed capable from the start.

Styles is massively rated at the club. Apparently what he does in training at times is frightening. Issue is, both Styles and Bahre play a similar type of role. Those two in midfield would create chances galore but also leave us woefully exposed defensively.
