The situation for pedestrians has been well documented. I would usually leave the car parked in the town and walk down but took the car and parked near the away fans. The road to the train station and Harboro Hills has now been cordoned off. Not much of a problem today but when the larger followings come that is going to create gridlock. If anybody on here has any contact with the powers that be can I suggest suspending the bus lane towards the Alhambra roundabout and coning the road to the station off after the turn to Harboro hills. When Leeds come it will be mayhem otherwise.Police vehicles and ambulances etc won't be able to move either

Thought it was going to be a Oakwell Lane thread....

Fun and games on there at full time. One female driver speeding on there was lucky all she got for nearly knocking people over were a couple of C bombs off a few gents as I thought her car was going to get kicked in.

Try getting out of car park at end of game. Got to match early and parked up by 20 to 2 so that I had half a chance of a reasonable getaway.
Got out of car park at a quarter to six due mainly to a combination of traffic (can't do anything about that) and selfish gits who get to match early and get front parking spots but then don't return to their vehicles at end of match till 5.20 ( you know who you are 55 plate Astra estate) Grr !

I've never been a driver, but why anybody who doesn't strictly need to would drive to Oakwell - or any football stadium, for that matter - is beyond me. Whenever I'm walking away from any ground it just seems stressful and mildly terrifying. Surely there must be another way - instead of asking the council to suspend bus lanes, why not park further away and take a bus or train?

Oakwell hill was mayhem as usual. Cars parked both sides, cars trying to go up the hill but going nowhere because of cars coming down the hill made all the worse by fans all over the pavement and road.

I always park up behind the town hall. A lot easier to get on to the motorway for me up to Leeds. i agree with a bigger away following their could be trouble. There was a kick off near the train station on the way up, with some young Charlton fans.

For some reason on Tuesday they let you go into the train station , then stopped you going into bus station.so we had to go down the Huddersfield platform back down to the crossing

Waiting for an operation on a torn knee ligament mate so limited as to how far I can walk and worry about people knocking it when they bunch up. The bus lanes are going to be academic anyway as the buses won't be able to reach them

Ouch, my sympathy, I had torn ligaments in my ankle, thank god it was closed season or I would have missed quite a few games.

For the 2nd league game running we got to Oakwell to find the car park full, so headed up to Metrodome.

Thought we'd try and get into the away car park first but we're turned away.

I explained that I had my ambulant disabled mate in with me but 'rules are rules' said he. Apparently it's down to SYP who don't want fans mixing.

He was quite apologetic, but I feel there is a bit of common sense and flexibility missing.

After we parked in the Metrodome we walked through the away car park, and back again after the game, mixing with Charlton fans. What's the difference?

Pity some of them haven't got common sense - like bloke stopping us going into bus station on Tuesday - there was no one there.

Ridiculous near train station. Charlton fan giving it the big un. Argy bargy. Barnsley fans temporarily prevented from accessing train station, then issues getting through bus station. Shambles of a situation. Just put a temporary bridge over railway tracks for the love of all that is holy. For a larger game i.e. Leeds etc will be pandemonium. Feel for station staff

Thought this myself, with the road now permanently closed surely a better "temporary" bridge could be put in place?

Well, l live 20 mins walk from Oakwell but sometimes l drive and park behind Mount, the reason being I'm a knob for staying out with the lads... I think that will stop me drinking. All l do is pick the car up on a Sunday morning.

Yeah, it's going to be fvcking murder when a horrible club come. It's asking for trouble. Something needs to be done but, as usual, nothing will be until someone either dies or sustains life-changing injuries.

Was there any bother today? We heard a big roar and sirens when we got to the Metrodome.

They actually did close the road to the train station today and also the road just below the bus exit (where the stupid single file footpath with the barrier is)

Seemed like a proper Mexican standoff today - Lolz. anyone in their right mind would drive down there at 5 pm on a Saturday without doing a quick google on Barnsley fixtures need their head reading. Whenever I’m in or around Leeds on a Saturday I always check if the white ***** are at home, M621 avoidance!

Yep, bit of light scrapping and I saw one barnsley fan put in cuffs. I was sat in front of some young Charlton fans on the London train who were loudly and repeatedly saying how they'd goaded some barnsley fans who'd then retaliated. One of the Charlton fans was proudly telling his mates how he'd pushed (not punched) an older barnsley fan in the face who'd been kicking him from behind.
