IDS ready to increase retirement age to 75 ... can't see some people ever seeing the money they are putting away!
The very Person that introduced Universal Credit then fooked off whilst others took the can for it. Despicable person, darling of the right, and yet people, no doubt some off this board, will sing his praises.
Is that through choice? My parents are 68 and 71 and still going strong working full time. Can't imagine standing in front of a class of kids in my 70's
T.w.at. Five more years for me and out at 60 if we can afford it. Then my first season ticket since 1982.
That's great if you can/want to but its disgusting even talking about it, bet them Tory b------- won't retire at 75!!
Would you have made that choice if your occupation was road mender, postie, builder, steeplejack etc? I had the last eight years of my working life as a postie. At the end of it my knee and hips were giving me huge problems. Luckily I was able to get out early and retire. Others don't have that luxury but, hey, let's flog them to death.
Another disgusting move and yet the Tories win votes, I despair at the people of this country sometimes
Totally personal choice but I drive van for a living I’m 63 and have no thoughts of retiring any time in the future I do think as you get older your opinions change
Everyone should have the option to carry on working as long as they wish (assuming they can adequately perform their chosen role). However, as a supposedly caring, compassionate society that values quality of life it's criminal to force people to work to that age. Unfortunately it's becoming ever more obvious that a significant number of people aren't remotely interested in a caring, compassionate society as long as they, personally, are ok.
I'm 50, had physical job for 34 years, my body's f**cked now, i'm expected to do the same work at the same speed as someone 30 years younger or get booted out the door, how exactly am i supposed to do another 25 years ? may aswell stop paying into my pension
I'm in my early thirties, and most of my friends and I have made our peace with the idea of never being able to retire, at least with a state pension. It's why I have absolutely no time for the "state pensions aren't a benefit, I've paid for mine" brigade.
I hope your health allows you to, but sometimes these choices/ decisions are taken from us and a retirement age of 65 was a safety net for many in case that happened
That’s the problem, people ‘making peace’ with totally unjust political decisions. The nation needs to wake up and quickly as we hurtle backwards to the 19th century as far as the ordinary man and women is concerned.
