Reading are tipped to be down there and have had a tough start

Just seen the lad they signed from inter has scored 2 for them and cost 8m euros last week. They also paid upwards of 4/5m for Jaoa

It will be an outstanding achievement if Stendel and Tongue keep us up

Even at this stage of the season Saturdays game and the next two are vital.. must not lose games.

Stendel had the second best squad in L1 last season and finished second.. This season arguably the second worst in the Champ... Whether Stendel stays after this season or not, it would be an excellent achievement just to stay up this season..

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see us start to recruit internally.

Teams will not withstand the effort being put in by the Barnsley players.
Charlton struggled with it and managed to squeeze a draw.
If we keep going at this pace - plus learn as they go along then I think we could be fairly successful this season.
But as I’ve said previously - first 10 games - or maybe even up to Christmas - it’s going to be a rollercoaster ride.

Has he actually refused to sign one I didn’t think that was the case. Do we know for certain there aren’t any negotiations going on and he has said he is definitely leaving next summer

We just need to keep our heads above water for this first half of the season and then hope that we come out of the January window stronger than going into it for once

I don't think he's refused to sign one, just won't sign one yet.

Got told yesterday from a very reliable person who’s got everything correct so far , Moore failed medical at Cardiff so ended up at Wigan . I believe what I was told to be the truth, no doubt others will call it bulls@@t but we all have our opinions

Charlton missed an open goal in the first couple of minutes, and also had a 1 on 1 just before they got the penalty, and let's face it, they're not a great team at this level.

Sheff Wednesday easily withstood our effort last Saturday as well.

Effort alone isn't going to be enough at this level, it's a basic platform on which to build. You still need to be good at both ends.

Long way to go, but I agree staying up will be an achievement.

I think we'll have enough, as I expect us to improve as the season goes on. We have this lad Schmidt to come in & Dougall & Brown to come back too.

Aren't any of our players capable of improving both individually and as a team? It seems to me that quite a number of our fans have already written off not only our new players, but the ones who were already here to be able to perform in the Championship.
I believe in these lads & have confidence in their ability to improve. If that puts me in the minority both on here and down at Oakwell, so be it. I don't care. Others can think what they wish.

I don't think it puts you in a minority mate. I just think people are being realistic based on the quality of opposition at this level.

I don't believe people are being realistic, old mate, when they're writing our players off so quickly. Of course it's going to be difficult, we've gone up a division after all. But we've played a grand total of three league games and a cup match. For me that's not realism, that's pessimism.
In all honesty, I haven't the foggiest how good these players will become, or not, and especially so soon into their Barnsley careers. But I'm willing to back them and show patience as they begin their Barnsley careers.

I think it will be an exciting season. I'm going to enjoy it & feel optimistic, i.e hopeful we can do enough to stay up & play some great football along the way. A lot of teams have thrown money at players, but some will underachieve. I certainly think Huddersfield could have a hard season, despite their parachute payments. Charlton looked like a physical team that play in the style of a Lee Bowyer team. They will seek to play in a different style to ourselves. It would be nice if we don't have to play against the referee as well as 11 men each week, as we did yesterday.

Anyone expecting us to roll teams over in this league need help. Maybe the opening game gave people higher expectations but with the player turnover and cost of squad assembly compared to nearly everyone in this division, 4th bottom would be an achievement, as long as this is part of the plan that sees us improve player purchases next season. Were doing fine.

I haven't seen or heard many posts or comments writing them off so can't really say.
