    FIFTEEN!!!!!

that’s one in every 3 games. Astonishing.

It’s hard not to conclude that this has something to do with Bowyer chomping in the officials’ ears and chucking themselves down in the box.

3 games in to the season and they keep the statistic going.

Absolutely no suprise to me. I really dont mind their own physical approach.
Its the sheer drama, of how they invite contact and then do 4 rolls on the floor, screaming as they go down.
The refs have a diffecult job but are very influenced thats for sure.

the one late on in the second half in front of me in the west stand was pure comedy gold. Went down like a screaming baby that had just been shot, as he knew he was boxed into a corner. There was no contact. Instant free kick and turnover of possession.

It’s not really surprising. They’re very much in the mould of Millwall. W*nkers.

How many were we awarded in the 96-97 season? I seem to remember it was a lot. We didn't have a team or manager who tried to influence the referee. It was due to our style of play and the players we had who attempted to dribble past opponents in the area.

I know you're trying to play devils advocate but we've got players who do that now - yet we've been awarded one penalty at Oakwell since October 2016. Why such a huge difference compared to Charlton?

I'm not playing devil's advocate. I disagree with the consensus opinion on referees.
I complain at the odd decision but not the official as a whole.
There were games last season where we were given almost every decision, some that were clearly wrong, and people still complained.
It never used to matter but now we've got bloody VAR which is just awful.
I don't know why Charlton have been given more penalties than us but my guess would be it is for the same reason that we were awarded more penalties than the majority of other clubs in 96-97. More fouls on them in the opponents area.

That referee yesterday was awful, his inconsistency understandably led to the bias claims. I also disagree about us receiving almost every decision last season as well. In fact it’s total cack

The pen, was a pen tho. Diaby didnt need to do what he did. It all started from our naivety from the throw in. Thats what young players struggle with in key situations in matches, a bit of nous, easy to say i suppose after the fact but it should have been put into row z and then re grouped. We will learn im sure. I couldnt see us getting another point this season after Tuesday neet but yesterdays performance proved we can do it and we will get better as the season progresses. COYR

Why keep going on about it though. We cant alter what the ref does. We gotta make sure we control the controlable. Their pen came from a lapse in concentration and naivety, for me it was a pen, but we deal with that, its 2-1.

It's more likely that someone on the coaching staff has training sessions on how to win them in the first place. Darren Pratley? Remember him playing for Bolton at Oakwell when they stayed up and we went down. That decision proved to be decisive in the whole season.

Time for every team in the league to be awarded a set quota of penalties per season. Take them when the manager pleases, when you've had those - that's yer lot. Would stop all the bickering.

All the home games and a few away ones. Saw just about all available footage of those I didn’t go to. If you really believe that yesterday’s referee was consistent with the way he dealt with players after awarding fouls against them then their’s no point discussing with you further. I’ll just assume you’re just a WUM.

Because it’s a forum that’s what people do. Should I have told people in the pub last night to stop talking about the match because nothing could be changed?

Here we go, you are defending referees being poor (being inconsistent is being poor) You tell me why a referee would treat players of 2 sides differently like he did yesterday, and not appear be bias?

No I'm not. At no point have I said anything of the sort. I acknowledge referees make mistakes, it's a fact, it continues to happen, sometimes that comes across as inconsistency. Inconsistency does not equate to bias.Opposition supporters will just as easily give examples of inconsistency that favoured us. What I'm saying is don't let it bother you.
