We're not even out of August yet. We've all seen seasons that were chalk and cheese before and after Christmas. Perhaps this will be one of those.
I would say must win. Home advantage to a relegation rival that's started worse than us and is full of our so called rejects. Anything less than three points to take some pressure off will be disappointing.
We've averaged a point a game. It's not enough. BUT look at the league table. Everyone we've played is up there. If we beat Luton I'd say we're holding our own. The caveat being it is really too early to take too much from anything
I wouldn't take much notice of that. With so few games played, anyone with a couple of wins will be up there, and we've assisted a couple of them in doing that.
Be nice to go into the international break on the back of two positive results would bite your hand off for 4points.
Definitely take your point which is why added caveat. With that said we don't have good record at Hillsborough and they've set off well. Charlton have set off well, nothing to do with playing us and Fulham are top team, again not due to result against us. We'll have easier games than them this season id hope it's what I mean
Luton was the game last season that McGeehan found some form and looked like the player we thought we had bought, we could do with that happening again this season because he aint had the best of starts to this one.
It looks like we are going to get zip from our away games this season like last time we were in the championship so home wins are imperative. Needs to be fortress oakwell....
We really do need a win on Saturday. I've had a look on Luton's forum and they seem to be having similar problems to us i.e. lots of possession but not doing much with it and or poor final deliveries / passes. Interestingly, they've lost both their full backs from last season's title winning team and that is one area where they seem to be struggling. A win could really kick start our season but Luton will be thinking the same thing. Knowing our luck, George Moncur will start and end up scoring against us!
Hes not good enough unfortunately and that little bit of form at the end of last season seems to cement his place. Nowt we can do now tho, a few decent loans would have eased the burden but thats obviously not something we are interested in.
Dont be daft of course its not a must win game. Its an important game and one we could do with winning there is no doubt about that but its still August FFS - there are most definitely no must win games this early in the season
I think it is, a team whos come up with us are likely going to be the ones fighting the same battle. if we take them points off em it gives us the edge come end of season
You've got to be realistic. Luton and Barnsley are very likely to be in and around the bottom six this season.
Yes, I think so. I fear, as much as I don't rate his work ethic Moncur will be out to bite us on the arse. 3 points would be a massive boost at this stage, but it is more of a must not lose than a must win for me. I can't make the game due to work (a mate's wedding in Ilkley to DJ), but will be listening in on the way to the gig. I think a few surprise teams will end up struggling, like Huddersfield & even Stoke maybe. Will be a dogfight after Christmas & we need to keep that unbeaten home record as long as we can.
