When Dave Bassett was interviewed for the Barnsley job he had a brief case with him which carried a 5000 player dossier.I'm sure he wouldn't have got all his first choices.Footballs moved on now and almost every club in football will have a recruitment team who together with the manager sign the best players available to them.I would imagine wage demands may come before signing the first on the list. For example if our wage limit is 5k a week its no good looking at somebody who's on 10k.

It's a very false economy to sign 2 squad players who aren't needed, when you could have 1 that costs the same as those two players but gives you much more that keeps you up and can pass on that experience to the development of the rest of a very young squad.

I have to hand it to the club and the board, they've successfully allowed the most extreme form of signing youth for future profit to the fanbase as the only option available.

End of the day we squad now that we can sell a couple to balance the books in summer and rest will be be good enough to get us back into championship when we get relegated. Then we do it all again. Sell 3 or 4 for millions and replace with could be's and maybes like this season. We will just keep doing a rotherham with this current transfer policy...

We can’t afford anyone who’s good and has got championship experience. Have you seen how much a 10-20 goal a season championship striker costs?

It's OK having this spread sheet approach but it falls flat on its face when it comes to the need for experience which we all agree is necessary in this league... The problem that we have at Oakwell with these new owners is basically greed
Greed to the point they only want sellable players in the club young players that they can buy cheap and make a fast buck when they sell them . Young players for every position.. And that for me is where it fails.. A couple of senior pros in talking and steading the ship for me is what is needed.. Even last year to a point it would have benefited us.. Unfortunately due to pound note signs on the roulette reel they have for eyes says that this isn't going to happen.. The balance sheet might look healthy but that will soon change when the tide of good will from the fans perspective fades and we see what we've witnessed before folk getting fed up and staying away in their droves and it's no good denying it.. History will repeat its self.. If they aren't careful... Too many times our club fails to learn the lessons of the past.. Then when it goes tits up.. They then start bleating and threatening by suggestion.... Yes weve heard it all before and we will continue to hear it.. we need your help...
The first casualty of all this will be the Gaffer.. It will be him they blame..
I'm sorry Mr Conway.. Its easy to brag but realistically we are in the same situation has to where we were when you and your group took over.. This is no over reaction.. The clubs lack of plan B already is allowing our shadow to edge towards that trap door... 4 games in... For me the writings already appearing on the wall and that's coming from someone who got wrapped up in to your enthusiasm... I should have known better... Maybe some will accuse me of over reaction but having supported the reds for the majority of my 62 years I can say we've been down this route too many times and at times it hard to accept... Let alone feeling that the club treats us like fools...

That could be true but if it wasn’t they’d still tell us he was involved anyway.

Chaplin’s one for example, Ganaye said on Twitter he was a player we were trying to sign for a while during his time with us & Stendel only came last summer. So he’s one example of a player we wanted regardless of who the manager was.

As I say, the club have done a sterling job influencing opinion that we have to permanently sign 19-21 (sometimes 22 at a push) year olds with no exception

1 of 11. And only for a year. Which suggests Daniels request went down as well as if he'd dumped in Conways lap ;-)

Is that "Yes, he's 26 and an exception", or "No, he's not 26 and not an exception"?:D

He's a temporary anomaly that will be rectified in June when his very short term contract expires ;-) Probably when Daniel has offski'd
