It's not just about the money it's about how you are perceived too. And he ll not be the main man in training will he? He was captain centre of the team last season. He disnt strike me as an innately lazy person.
Can’t look good for Davies. Stokes goalkeeper is currently throwing the ball in the back of his own net. Like something off Mike Bassett England manager. Yet Davies is still number 3 in the pecking order. I think tonight is showing why no prem side would pay 12 million for Butland.
Butland is Davies and Davies is Walton in that it doesn't matter how bad the first choice plays, he isn't getting a game.
He’s not even that. He’s Greatorex. Even if Butland does get dropped, Davies won’t be on the bench still.
Stoke bottom of the league tonight. Surely time must be running out for Manager Nathan Jones.? Supporters starting to get on the Chairmans back. Can only see it ending in tears.
Would it make that much of a difference? I'm self employed and if I could make my fortune by just getting out of bed then I might be happier. Anyway, it's his problem.
Would you really? I thought self employed people were that because they had get up and go. I d agree if he was retired but he remember he still.has to go to work. I'd think it would be well boring compared to being at Barnsley.
What has Davies lost by moving to Stoke? Worst case scenario for him is he missed a season of action while being paid more than I'm sure he could have imagined 3 or 4 years ago. If he doesn't get anywhere near the Stoke team, then he will at least get a loan move to a L1 club at some point(while still earning **** loads of money), then will be released where he will be able to find another club to start playing regular again(and demand a tidy signing on fee in the process). Must be honest though, I'd sodding love being a third choice 'keeper at a Premier League or Championship club. Earn decent money, to just train 4 days a week and keep fit incase needed? Sounds like heaven...
Is looking like a bad move for anything other than financial reasons. Maybe that is enough. I see Stoke as a basket case, a bit like Sunderland. If Butland is dropped I'd expect him still to be on the bench. I'm not really that arsed, as I think Radlinger & Collins look better keepers. Radlinger cool with ball at his feet, makes good saves & comes off his line quickly when we are holding a high line. We paid no fee for either, so Davies leaving on a free is fine with me. Collins looks sound if Radlinger is suspended, injured or takes a dip in form. No tears from me losing a player who was great last season, but poor the one before.
I for one do feel some sympathy for Jack Butland. With all his clubs and the England team he has been a model professional, whose international career was slowed by an unfortunate injury. He is still only now at Stoke, for whom he showed a great deal of loyalty in staying on in the Championship last season, because of the club's greed in demanding £30 million for him. He is playing as if he just doesn't want to be there and I don't think he does. He showed loyalty to the Potters, but they seem to have showed precious little to him. His stock in trade will certainly be falling, but that should eventually get him te move he wants back to the Premiership, but at a reasonable fee.
Not till January though & for me they could be in the scheisse by then. Has a look of Sunderland all over it. Managerial dismissal & a lot of p1ssed off players. Worrying times for them. Parachute payments let you keep players on big salaries, but it is a tough league this. I'd fancy one of Huddersfield or Stoke to drop. QPR look dodgy too. Hope we don't fill the third berth, we need to keep up our unbeaten home record as long as we can, as that will give us some stability.
